SCSU only had seven attempts and three shots on goal in about 5:45 of PP time in the first period. They out-attempted UNO 19-15 at even strength in the first period, and three of the nine shots on goal UNO was credited with came from the neutral zone.
SCSU out-attempted UNO 26-13 in the third period. The gap isn't that wide with a good six minutes.
I would say St. Cloud has been honest with attendance numbers this year, until they reported almost 4200 last night. That's inflated by almost 1000 people. Attendance was terrible last night because it was $35 a ticket. They had the building pretty close to full when they offered ticket discount deals over the holiday break.

Yeah it's 4 for $60 but not everyone can do 4 people, especially when a lo6t of alumni are in the cities, it's hard to justify the expense. Not to mention the basketball teams are home, are doing fairly well and both games for that are $10-15.
Add that to having very good quality broadcasts available in HD in many areas of the state...why spend the money?

Decided to stay at home and take advantage of FSN broadcast. Pretty timid first period.
Also, about the PA system that was mentioned earlier. Yes its beyond terrible. Cannot understand a word of it in student section.

SCSU fans are terrible at walking through the aisles or in front of you when the game is going on. They have attendants on the press box side, but the suite side is terrible

Well Tipsy - you called it. I would not have guessed a sweep by SCSU at all. No way. But SCSU dominated, thoroughly, the entire weekend. UNO did not show up at all and SCSU played extremely good defense the entire weekend. Well done St. Cloud. Well done.
NCHC is out of the question at this point. I just hope UNO finds itself in the NCAAs. Not likely at this point.

I do have to say that I am somewhat surprised that SCSU swept. The first period summary was "pass and a miss". The rest of the game was back and forth. Both goalies did a good job, but the d-men on both sides were not on their a-game.

This team looks like a typical late season UNO team. 0-4 to close the season will complete the collapse and cost them the NCAAs. It certainly looks possible at this point

Great game by Murray on both ends of the ice. Nice to see him get rewarded for it with the goal. Same with Widman, game winner and great game.
Hope Prow is ok. Great defensive effort and very lucky Ortega wiffed twice on the cross ice backdoor feeds- not his fault, both pucks were flipping.
Great sweep , good job, Go Huskies!

Does the puck always bounce around on the ice surface as badly as it did this weekend? Tonight was better, but the pucks were bouncing everywhere Definitely an advantage to SCSU as they stickhandle amazingly

The P.A system was a bit better in the lower level tonight versus sitting in the upper level, where we sat last night. Still horrendous, though.
Remember what adult voices sounded like on televised "Peanuts" shows like "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown? That's exactly what the P.A system sounds like in the NHC.
