University of North Dakota 2014 Off-Season

Re: University of North Dakota 2014 Off-Season

And a rebuttal for keeping neutral site regional games - no eastern bias here:

Ha Ha.

That's a terrible article. The respect I had for Wodon is gone.

Most of his veiled agenda seems to be to unduly protect smaller eastern schools. And regarding BC, 'oh they're just so great they would win anywhere' 'and in case you didn't hear me let me say it again'...saying that we should ignore a 4 goal loss in the ncaa regional. I guess we should also ignore a 0-3-1 record by BC west of the Appalachians in the last 2 years. We should also forget a 17-5 goal deficit at MN during that stretch. Likewise, I'm not sure if the typos are by accident or on purpose. A joke really.

BC needs to play UND to get its numbers back up.

Wow that's.....cutting edge. Fresh material. Huh.

Family Guy ran a Paula Poundstone joke in 2009. She was arrested in 2001. Yeah, don't get me started on that show's "cutting edge" humor.

Using the last two years of data is a great basis for an argument... if you had chromosomal defects. Cuz, like forget that Icebreaker BC took over MSU and North Dakota by a combined score of 11-4 three years ago in some place called Grand Forks. Or a combined 9-2 sweep at Denver four years ago (great city, had a fantastic time there in 2008, can't remember why I was there though). Ancient history!

York is 4-1 when flying to a regional (two such times going out West and taking out the overall #1 in consecutive years). 18-3 when going by bus. A variance of 0.057%. They're just so great they would win anywhere.

The current BC team has consistently lost (0-3-1) west of the Appalachians and none of your points address that. So although they have been a very good team...no, BC is not so good it wins 'everywhere'.

Re: University of North Dakota 2014 Off-Season

It looks like Ryan Mantha isn't a real committed commit:

https://twitter.com/mikemorrealeNHL
I saw that, and some of the comments on Brad's blog speculating that Ryan is disappointed he's not coming to UND this fall. I would like to see a video of the entire conversation in which this comment was made. We have to remember that these kids are at the NHL combine right now. They are trying to do and say "the right thing" in order to impress and raise their draft stock. If I'm a kid in that position, I'm probably also going to say that I'll do whatever the team that drafts me tells me they want me to do.

Sure, you'd like a kid to respond that his mind is made up, and he doesn't care what is said by his NHL drafting club, he's still going to "X". But I don't know that the comment demonstrates a shift in attitude of Ryan towards UND. If anything it just reveals that he really wants to play in the NHL and he'll basically do whatever the NHL squad tells him to do. He probably had that same attitude back when he committed to UND.

Re: University of North Dakota 2014 Off-Season

That's the real problem here, that the NHL is still full of these freaking moron GM's and other front office twits who think college hockey is worthless and Canadian juniors is vastly superior. Nevermind guys like Parise, Toews, Vanek, Gionta, Miller, St. Louis,. College hockey doesn't develop players.

Re: University of North Dakota 2014 Off-Season

But you guys have more homegrown talent than we have! Aren't all of those kids growing up with green and black in their blood? Why do you keep running into these issues?
