Union @ RPI, Friday, 10/30/15

Re: Union @ RPI, Friday, 10/30/15

Great day for RPI hockey. Wins over Cornell and Union to start conference play for women's and men's teams. Sweet.

Re: Union @ RPI, Friday, 10/30/15

There were a lot of things to be pleasantly surprised about in this game.

Perhaps one of the most pleasant is the fact that RPI managed to make it through a very chippy third period without anybody getting called for the type of penalty that would have resulted in a suspension.

Hopefully they don't hand one out after the fact.

Do us a favor-when you start the scores thread for tomorrow, make it RPI @ Union and try to make the same mistake as today.

That crossed my mind, but remember that I wrote November for the Michigan game in the D-I forum and we still lost. :)

Re: Union @ RPI, Friday, 10/30/15

Meaningless call at the end makes the scoresheet imbalance of penalty calls a bit less obvious.

Chip McDonald is a disgrace. How does the league keep putting this guy on RPI vs. Union?

Of the last 7 games between RPI & Union, Chip has officiated 5 of them (over 70%. Of those 5, here's the power play breakdown.

11/15/2013: 5 PPs for Union, 4 for RPI
11/16/2013: 9 PPs for Union, 6 for RPI
1/25/2014: 5 PPs for Union, 3 for RPI
1/25/2015: 7 PPs for Union, 1 for RPI
10/30/2015: 9 PPs for Union, 4 for RPI

That's 7 PPs on average for Union and 3.6 for RPI...almost 2:1.

It's particularly offensive on a night like tonight where RPI outshot and outplayed Union.

We better not get this guy again tomorrow night...

And that is just the power plays listed. I would bet the minutes of penalty time is even more telling.
