Union @ RPI (Black Friday, 11/2)

Re: Union @ RPI (Black Friday, 11/2)

True, but still it's starting to get really old seeing Union get so much stronger and stay stronger.

Re: Union @ RPI (Black Friday, 11/2)

You'd think they'd get some EMAC students to come up with something.

On the front of the jerseys is "RPI 1824".

I've heard that, a long time ago, before I arrived on campus and probably even before Ralph and Dr. D got there, there was a song entitled "RPI Was RPI When Union Was a Pup." I never heard the song, but I always assumed it meant RPI had been founded before Union had.

I thought perhaps the inclusion of the "RPI 1824" on the black sweaters tonight was designed to remind Union that RPI has been around longer.

But I looked it up and found that in fact, RPI hasn't. Union was founded in 1795.

What a bummer! Not only does RPI lose the hockey game, but my long-held belief that RPI is the older of the two schools is debunked in the same night.

Although it's not quite as bad as the night I went to a restaurant and the waitress, without asking, put me down for a senior citizen discount, thus debunking my long-cherished belief that I looked younger than I really was. ;)

Re: Union @ RPI (Black Friday, 11/2)

Just back from the game and the only thing I can say is that I have never seen an RPI team so tight coming into a game. They had no idea what to do out there either on offense or especially in their own zone.
The only times during the game when they appeared to loosen up was just after they scored their goals, but that only lasted a very few minutes.
If they can relax against Union, they can play with and beat them. However, they are definitely in the heads of this team.
Lets see what happens tomorrow.
