Union@RPI 10/25/24

RPI this year is like a box of chocolates - until we open up I have no clue of what we got. Even the odds makers have this one even.

Doc, every year is the same in the ECAC. Q and Cornell are always good. The rest of the league is inconsistent.
Now the portal makes is even tougher to pick from the rest.
I liked what I saw last week. I wouldn't be surprised to see us in the middle of the pack or slightly better at the end of the season.

This announcer sounds so much better than their regular announcer! I like the black shirts, the red shorts with the white stripes not so much
 
Another game where the officials are making a difference as Caron gets a major and a game misconduct. Union scores 7 seconds after the penalty call.

I am still trying to figure out the first penalty call of the game where we got cross checked in front of the net yet we got called for a penalty. All I expect is that the officials call a consistent game in which the calls are made in the same fashion for each team. We did not see that in the Niagara series and we certainly did not see it tonight. Give Union credit for taking advantage of what the officials gave them as their power play scored 4 and easily could have had a couple more.

Caron skated through the slot and lifted a Union player's stick, knocking it out of his hands (hence the interference penalty), before he moved to the top of the crease where he was cross-checked. It was an unnecessary and undisciplined penalty, but the whistle didn't blow right away and the cross-check was blatant. How a ref that must have been watching Caron could not call that a minor as well is baffling. The fact that Smith didn't go beserk is also beyond me.
