I'm pretty sure they made the players cover themselves in mud before the end of halftime, kind of how you're supposed to shower before going into a public pool.
2 minutes into the suddenly muddy half and EVERYBODY is covered. If you have a better explanation I'd like to hear it.

Maybe that field is set up for a monster truck rally after the game.

My mom loves to tell her Bucky Dent story... She was playing high school field hockey and had to listen that atrocity on a trip to Thayer Academy...

Equally bad was when right fielder Lou Pinella stuck out his arm while blindly staring into a setting sun's glare and somehow snared a Dwight Evans liner that was headed for for extra bases (and would've put us ahead very late in the game).
I don't think he ever really even saw it. "Glove save and a beauty".
It was hideous.

If I remember my Red Sox history correctly... It came off Mike Torrez, a Yankee the year before, it was in the 6th inning, and the Sox folded tent pretty much after it...
It was hideous.
