UNH UNH UNH UNH!!!! Amazing goal tending by UConns Nichols but we managed to finally do it. Amazing flurries that earns the 'Cats a standing O by the crowd. Kudos to the whole team and congrats to the Seniors who will move on to the next round. Not sure who that is but its not BU...Go 'Cats!!!! 😃😃😃

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

Jesus saves, but Espo scores on rebound (early 70s bumper sticker around Beantown).

Wicked interesting HEA tournament this year; three of the four underdogs still have chance to move on.

UNH: over/under GPG and goals allowed per game?

Ya it was a good win against a very hot goalie. Bummer we lost the SOG though. We were on such a roll winning the SOG consistantly. Oh well, all we can do is put it behind us and move on;) Oh wait, we won the SOG 44-19! All is right with the world now!!

Good to see ya at the game Ref.

Same here! Oh those pesky SOG's 😉 !! Great win by our 'Cats and yes Nichols stood on his head. Flung the puck into the stands near us after Downing's goal nearly hitting a little girl in his frustration. Luckily no one was hurt!!! Onward 'Cats!

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

I am SO confused  ... at this time of the season, UNH is on an improbable seven (7) game winning streak, won a first round series they should have won without any complications, and have now improved their seeding for the next round to at least BC, if not Providence or even UMass-Lowell (should the Minutemen AND Black Bears win their deciding games tomorrow). Strongly suspect they'll be traveling to The Coffin to meet the Friars, but I would really be geeked about playing BC in a QF series where there is absolutely no pressure/expectations on UNH, and a LOT of pressure on the homestanding Eagles. Problem is, for that to happen, then both UVM and NICC have to win tomorrow ... and you know how much I *love* the latter.

However it turns out, it's great to have another weekend of hockey to look forward to. As a recent poster said, UNH is now playing with house money, and even if the last six games of the 7 game streak haven't exactly been against daunting opposition, the important thing is this is now a team that's found some belief, is gathering experience to draw upon for future postseasons, and is only a pair of wins away from an improbable return trip to the Garden. They're at .500 now, and if they somehow win the next series, they won't be able to finish the season with a losing record. Pretty darned good for an out-and-out rebuilding season.

And for a guy who probably won't get a lot of consideration for HE Coach of the Year, it's been one of the better coaching jobs by Coach Umile in his last decade at Durham. Some may disagree with me, but it's hard to argue that his work with this young team this season doesn't warrant putting aside calls for his exit strategy, and letting him continue to build upon the strong finish to this season. Say what you will, but winning as many games as he has during his lengthy career does not happen by accident. And if he can create some postseason magic in the role of the determined and spunky underdog this Spring, this could be the most positive offseason outlook this program has experienced in quite awhile, forcing others in the program to up their games as well.

I could be wrong but I believe Providence is the 2 seed so wins by uvm and nd would send us there as we'd be the "7th" seed in a reseeded tourney. A Maine or UMA upset would send us to BC which would be an interesting matchup. But honestly at this point who really cares who we play. I'd love to take the Eagles out of playoff contention. I'd love to see this recent scoring stretch up against the solid defense of providence, and I'd love a chance to avenge the recent playoff losses to UML. It's been a fun and stressful up and down season. It's time to sit back and just enjoy the last week (or two, three, five??)

The best part of this weekend is that Coach Mad Again's season ended before ours did

Not picking on you Chuck, as I have seen similar comments many times over the years from others. But the Eagles have been placed in the pressure cooker many times in Jerry York's tenure and have been quite successful in that time.

PRESSURE is a mind set, nothing more, nothing less. It can kill some teams and some teams thrive on it. The team that is able to thrive on it, they don't actually feel 'pressure'. They are able to channel negative energy (pressure) into positive energy (inspiration). This channeling is not by accident. It starts at the top. Whether it be a team captain, a teammate, a coach, or a combination of those, it takes leadership to keep the team's head in the right place.

We've had one 'constant' over the years at BC. He's still here. No Pressure. :)

Edit: Not saying UNH or anyone else can't beat BC. We're very beatable this season. Just saying that 'pressure', on BC's end, will have nothing to do with it. They'll be prepared to play and be as confident as they always are for the games. You just have to out play them.

Unofficially one of the best posts of the year...hilarious!!! I have to say that NU, after losing what, their first 10 (until they beat US that is), had a remarkable "come back" season. Gotta give 'em credit for that!
Yep, we are still in it!!! Go 'Cats!!

Feel basically the same! Spoke briefly to Matt Willows last night on the way out and he said "we are on a roll and ready to play anyone". Love it! Personally they achieved the goals that I had set for them; just put together the best season possible, surprise me here and there (they most certainly did that!). Win the first round of the HE tourney (and do it in two!!) Can't say enough about how much I admire / respect the job the coaching staff, the senior leadership, did with this team given so many hurdles to jump. Heard from a twitter contact that there aren't many seats available already at BC...who ever on this board who has the "inside" about tickets whether it be BC or PC (UML? I hope not..) please give us the heads up please! You know who you are ;)

UConn coach calls us 'the hottest team in HE' right now...let's see where this goes and enjoy the ride, whatever is left of it! Go 'Cats!!

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

Tickets will probably free up a bit at BC. Playoff tickets are part of the season ticket package so that's why they looked sold out. Many folks don't attend the qtr. finals so they look to unload tickets at BC Ticket Marketplace.

Of course, we usually get UMass, whose fan base doesn't travel well, so the ticket situation may be a bit different with UNH or Maine.

Don't buy them yet. I think it's still possible BC gets VT, UNH or Maine depending on today's outcomes.

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

Thanks for the inside info...wasn't planning on buying them yet just wondered about that 'sold out almost' scenario and appreciate the scoop. Also I am assuming that UNH will have tickets in hand as well? Being a first time season ticket holder I knew I'd have to purchase my tickets for the games. I like the BC solution of having them already built in to the package. Wonder why we don't do that as well...whatever. Guess we will wait and see. By 10:00 tonight we'll have an answer I guess *barring no 6 hour, 5 OT games  !

Hey Ref UNH used to do that but apparently have done away with it. I do know a lot of season ticket holders used to whine about the practice (believe it or not I wasn't one of them:D) so perhaps that had something to do with the change.

Nice post. Now, who are you and what have you done with Chuck?
