UNH Wildcats 2019/2020 Ready to Rock and Roll!!

Better power play, BUT, Mich scores 5 on 5. Once again, like the ME game, we have stopped hustling! No intensity since midway thru 1st P.

I think that the Wolverines made adjustments during "TV time outs" midway through the first and began clogging the middle of the neutral zone. I would have thought that our speedsters could adjust by using the sides, you know, given the Olympic size width of our ice?

We are 3-7-3 all-time against the Wolverines, including 1-2 in post-season (loss at Garden in 1998 FF semi; win in Anaheim at 1999 FF semi, and loss at 2004 NE regional in Manchvegas).

Third goal may have been five on five, but cannot let Becker come out of p box, collect pass, and walk in alone on Robinson. Lots of fundamental errors by UNH tonight, but I would argue that the hustle has been there all game. And, the crowd is the largest I have seen in years, and loud!

Really bad result. Kudos to Michigan for making their adjustments (tightening up on a shaky PK) where UNH did not (en route to a third straight one goal effort)...

A good start to the season has now slipped away...

Disappointing and it speaks to a loss of momentum esp scoring wise. MI gets their first road win.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2019/2020 Ready to Rock and Roll!!

Maybe the hustle is there (hard to tell on CBS), but the intensity was not. Too many passes to players already covered, too many long, rink wide passes to a lone player up by offensive blue line who has no chance alone with everybody else still behind center ice line. I’m a big fan of puck control. If you’re only going to get 1-2 goals per game, you need to control the puck so the other team cannot score.
The adjustment Snively mentions, I think, is Mich adjusting to the larger ice surface and clogging up the middle.

Pretty sure the lone postseason win was in the '99 Regional Finals in Worcester (Haydar 2OT).

They did beat Michigan State in Anaheim in the FF Semis, before Alfie Michaud ruined things ...

Oops, you are correcto; I was flipping Michigan and Michigan State, which beat CC in west regional to reach Anaheim. And, I even attended that game in Wooatah, but not the FF in Anaheim.

But, now we are 3-8-3 in the all-time series, which began in 1983. We split in Ann Arbor on our last meeting in October 2014.

Ditto: Maine.

Hockey East is awful so far.

A few "household" names (at least in my house:) of USA college players making it to the NHL in the 1960's ..... not many but here are a few.

Red Berenson, Tony Esposito, Bill Masterson, Dennis Hextall, Lou Angotti

Good comment, sonar. My guess is that there are a few others, too. But, three of your five did not make it to The Show until the expansion year 1967/68.

School play for me tonight keep me posted...Kids in my classes begged me to go figure the Ireland trip makes up for it. Hope the 'Cats find the back of the net tonight.

Souza not too happy in his post game presser when asked what up with the offense. He mentioned Wyse spoke to the team after the game not him. Looking for the split tonight GO 'CATS!!

PS...No one has mentioned the loss of Jackson Pierson and Charlie K hasn't been the same since the Maine game. I believe hes playing hurt but that's not verified. Both are instrumental to the success of the power play. Team not crashing the net enough either.

Who's gonna step up 'Cats? Time for guys like Blackburn and MacAdams to show what they've got. Also in a totally random note anyone else notice how difficult it was to stay up in certain spots like near the penalty box? Never seen so many players on the ice slipping...ho hum that's the least of our worries!!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2019/2020 Ready to Rock and Roll!!

What a difference two weeks makes. Very disappointing last night. Our play, the crowd, the vibe felt more like two years ago than two weeks ago.

We had trouble with MI's size. Lines were completely juggled in the third. Stevenson 3rd line left wing > 1st line center, Blackburn down to 4th(?) line center. More changes as well as PP units being a mashup of the the 5 x 5 lines. Eriksson appears to be getting more and more time. Gotta give credit to Coach for trying any and everything to generate offence.

Need a win tonight to stay above 500. It feels like tonight could set the tone for the rest of the season.

They played like two years ago, what do you expect? Also, almost as many Michigan fans in the stands as UNH. Every time you start to think the program has turned a corner, they prove you wrong. Very disappointing game. Our lack of a sniper or two has been haunting us for years now. Rambling post, but running out of things to say after years of the same ole same ole.

Well no truer words and pretty much was MS7 said in the presser about the 3rd....doing what he can to make something happen in front of the net. Yeah...big bodied forwards like Johnny Beecher, who skates incredibly well and knows his way around the mouth of the goal. Playmaker too. Not sure why MI is struggling to much they looked pretty good to me last night. First road win for them. Agree...tonight is huge for the 'Cats...Wanted to say I kind of feel the same about how 'it felt' last night. Didn't like it. Thought we were making things move forward. I don't mind losing, m ind you, I can handle that have had no choice but handle that. But what I do mind? Is how I felt about that game. Too much like the past. Sorry, I'm just putting it out there. But I do think there's plenty of hockey left but the answer is in that locker room and behind the bench.
