Vermont over PC at PC. Wow.

PC has a game in hand over us, but it may not be inconceivable that we could leap frog them in the HEA standings.

And, Naz our second double-digit goal scorer on the season, with at least eight games remaining.

Wooo ‘Cats! 3rd wasn’t pretty but we did what we had to do for the W. If we win and PC loses that will be interesting....HR approves of the game tonight!

...and one of those OT losses were to Maine so it feels good to be on the other side of that tonight!!!

12 of 26 games OT so far this season: 8 ties, 3 wins (UVM, Mack, and now Maine), and one loss (BU). No more ties, just wins, so that you, I, e.cat, and ATW can collect our free beers at Libby's for over 13.5 wins; thanks, Chuck. :-)

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

Souza tried to blow that game ... He acted a bit to much like Umile. Really shortened the bench up 2-0 I think it even started in the 2nd period.

Did the 4th line even play in the third period?

Did the 3rd line have more than a handful of shifts?

To me that is why UNH looked so dead late in the third. The legs were burnt for the top two lines. The 4th line was generating nice offensive pressure early in the game.

Hopefully a lucky win, on a really nice Naz goal doesn't reinforce what I see as a bad coaching move in the game... Hopefully Souza sees the tactical error.

4th line was on the ice for the first Maine goal in the third

Chuck's compliments are easily perceived as negative criticism. :D

Yes, I've had the unmitigated gall to admit JvR is a well paid and very good NHL player, but not an All-Star elite level player destined for the HHOF. I'm sure JvR is devastated. :D

Snively65, you came closest to answering the latest quiz correctly. Put another beer on our running tab. :)

USCHO lists the assist on the game winning goal as Blackburn? Wasn’t he on the bench?

Souza admits they "limped to the bell" in the presser afterwards....I thought they looked gassed in the third as well. Not sure how much ice time the other lines got but am thinking they know it was fortunate they held off Maine (Souza says as much). But, the team showed it's resilience and that OT goal by Naz was amazing. He says in the paper that what goes unnoticed is that Charlie K holds off his guy in the faceoff circle allowing him to get the puck and shoot...Swayman never saw it coming. So we'll take the W...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

Was Naz for his 2nd of the night. Blackburn streak snapped at 15 games.

oh...so that's why people on the UNH Hockey fan FB page thought he (Blackburn) had an assist on the play...

What I thought I saw was Naz drilling it right off of Jackson’s face-off win.

Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me.

My point was the assist listed for Blackburn, when I thought (and now confirmed after watching the play) that he was on the bench. As for an actual assist, maybe Pierson tapping it back to Naz? Yes ref, the USCHO box score must be why people thought Blackburn had an assist.

And you would be right!!! Snipe city. :D Check the highlights it's all very clear...just a great play by Pierson to Naz...Speaking of Pierson...what a night he had!!!! An excellent, versatile player. Maine did a great job of neutralizing Angus and Blackburn but those other two clearly had the games of their careers. Anyway...it's going to be a wild one tonight bring it 'Cats!!!!

Exactly what friend who stopped going to the Whitt but watched on NESN-U said about the Cats trying to sit back on their 2-0 lead in the third.

Sorry that I could not be there; will be at the Whtt tonight, thanks to e.cat. But, I followed on CHN game tracker last night, which recorded exactly zero SOG on the nearly 2-minute 5-3 PP, the reason that I asked the question earlier about whether Souza had two forwards planted behind the Maine net again. Same friend who picked up on the Umilesque sitting back on the 2-0 lead in the third also noticed the two UNH forwards behind the Maine net on the 5-3 PP, which he had not seen before and thought was stupid, as I do. I know that many here think it is a great strategy, but I have yet to see even one SOG with the tactic. This strategy makes absolutely no sense to me, especially when Gildon with his puck moving and passing skills is on the PP.

Looking gassed in the 3rd, we escaped with a win. A tie would have felt like a loss. Interesting on the bench shortening as the coaches have enough confidence in Sacco to have him in the PK. All three goals were (((very)) nice plays and shots. Look for BVR to shine tonight.

JB

Who is the first line for UNH Probably Nazarian Pierson Kelleher

Who is second line for UNH Probably Crookshank Blackburn Miller

Who is third line for UNH Probably BVR Vela Grasso

Fourth line last night was MacAdams Cefalu Sacco

Maine matched first line against Naz Line etc etc etc

The fourth line did have less playing time in the 3rd period, but they did have shifts.

Vela's line probably got the most ice time overall last night but that is not always the case.

We should celebrate that we have 3 very good to excellent scoring lines
