UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Without a doubt. Of all these empty and wide-open corners that are turning into lay-ups for opposing forwards, many would simply hit the bigger Clark. Watch ND's Peterson tonight - he exemplifies how a good goalie plays the game. He seems to BARELY move, because he is ALWAYS in the right position. Tirone has had to rely on his 'athleticism', because his positioning and anticipation has been horrible. Clark is not Peterson, but he plays a similar game and would be posting a MUCH better season than what were seeing...

I think every opposing opportunity ending up in the back of the net - plus some flat-out soft goals - is sucking the energy out of this team. Tirone gave up the first goal yesterday, on a soft/poor angle, and his reaction was putting his head-down and staring at the ice without the slightest movement until the puck dropped. It was so obvious he was finished. The team's body language was just as bad. It was so obvious they were finished...
Also Reagan if he plays. He may not be half the goalie a top of his game DT is, but his style lends confidence. He looks alert, following the puck with short quick adjustments. No question the team played better in front of him. I'd like him to start to see how he handles a full game. Something to watch now that the Pots line isn't putting up big numbers.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

At last season's end I was all for TK wearing the C this year. It didn't happen. Oh well what do I know anyway? What I do know is that he is consistently the last man off the ice at game's end. Foley-esque.

He is isn't he...giving fist bumps to players as they skate by as he waits by the player entrance. (We've noticed this at all the away games too). maybe next season TyK wears the C?

It would be SO UNH if they were to discover a hidden gem in the final third of his senior season.

And can we all acknowledge now that the program misses Lassonde big time? It's not only the quality of the goaltenders coming in, it's the way they don't develop when they get here. .
No we can't all agree, big time. It is hard for me to believe that you give all negative criticism to SB, yet positive to DL. I thought you may have been an insider of sorts, but I no longer think that. DL is a good talent evaluator, and I'll admit he seemed to "coach the net minders up". He would almost never go on the road recruiting unless the upstate NY games were happening. His next decision on a recruit will be his first, so you can't blame him for any mistakes. He's self-centered and he was caustic to everyone in the program outside the players. A going away party was probably in celebration of him moving on. I'm sure DU was relieved when DL came in to tell him he was moving on to Denver, as well as many in the building. Although thinking about it now he might have been such a pain in the ***** that DU wouldn't have been able to put his feet up until he left.

Word on the street Jamie Regan is starting GK. Confirmed.

TyK playing in his 100th...team holding their own Regan with some saves

My comment had nothing to do with Dave Lassonde's people skills. It had everything to do with his ability to recruit and coach goaltending. The proof is in the pudding, witness the multiple All-Americans he coached at UNH. Don't forget he made Brian LaRochelle into a serviceable goaltender.

BTW, watching this game from home tonight, lots of snow here in Lynn. The talent deficit vis a vis Notre Dame is even more stark on the big screen than in person. Dan and Pete are trying to put a good face on this but I am sure it is a struggle. Paraphrasing Belichick, it's on to Providence.

I was wondering how long it would be before you brought us all up to speed on the ol' alma mater ... :p

Your alma mater has had a similar trajectory to my alma mater since they met at Lake Whitt in November. As frustrating as it was to be watching a 1-1 tie with AIC heading into the third, the reappearance of the Falcons first line, which has been similar, if a bit less prolific, to the Pots-TK line all season, was exciting to watch. Gives me hope that the Cats find salvation with Jamie Regan in net and that the Pots-TK line can recapture their early-season magic. And, still hope that you are correct about the chrome domes being over-rated.

I'll agree with your observation on tonight. ND moves the puck around in the UNH zone like they're always a man up. And Regan is doing pretty well considering he or any other 3 would never see the ice.

Quast on a slapper!! Tied at the end of two.. Fun fact: Jamie Regan has a .91% save while NICC's Petersen is at .87%

Beautiful first save by Regan but Lucia puts it away.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Umile must go. People are welcome to try to shout me down and give me negative feedback and everything thing else that you think intimidates me. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. This program has been going down for years; the coach is not in touch with young people either as recruits or players. He can not recruit the players he needs to win nor can he properly develop recruited players as needed. I see Umile behind the bench too fat to button the top button of his shirt. His appearance is sloppy and so is the play of his team. While we watch Jerry York get #1000 we can see how he is a cerebral gentleman coaching BC, the astute among us see Umile as a charlatan moping behind the bench as UNH fumbles their way to yet another loss. Umile could never have made it in the private sector; he is so lucky to have been carried by UNH all these years. We alumni are watching UNH lose another tonight. We alumni are watching UNH fade into irrelevance in HE. Umile is the reason. How long are we expected to endure Umile leading UNH to loss after loss to good teams? I am sick of him and have been for years. Anyone who wants to may say billb you are this and that, but you are the same ones who deny your wives are sleeping with your best friends while you're saying your marriages are so sound. Umile is the reason for UNH $ucking. He is the head coach. He must go.

Really missed you on the threads this year, billb. Gather that you have not read any of the previous posts on this thread?

However, from just following the game online tonight, it appears that the Cats played much better than in their previous five games.

Yes Snively we did turn in a solid performance this evening wish we could've put away a couple more on the PP. TyK had onne that rang off the post big time. He looked a bit frustrated skating off tonight; think he knew they had a legit shot at winning and I believe they did as well. Jamie R played well I thought. Onto FriarLand and the creepiest mascot in HE

Pots back in first all alone with 19 goals; TyK still leads in assists.

Can someone please give billb a popsicle or something? Please??

p.s. sorry to hear about the abysmal conduct of your best friend(s), dude ... I'd be pizzed off too.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Great to see Aerman and wife this past weekend!! Heading into the PC weekend. Bought tix way back at the beginning of the year so a trip to Providence for two it is. Better play last night was encouraging; I mean, they CAN do some good things and had their chances. Know it's going to be tough down there of course. Big q is are we leading with Regan or Tirone? I imagine this weeks practices will bear that out. I mean, it can't hurt and Jamie had some great saves last night, esp. the first one down low on Lucia before he scored on the rebound. Was also encouraging to see we've picked up a Dman. 6'3 reminds me of Eric K (with my limited fan history, mind you) and he's not even 17 yet so has some growing to do! First glance at SB behind the PC bench too. I don't think anyone fully expected to be where we are right now in 10th in HE but here we are with 10 games left. Go 'Cats!
