UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Felgie, it's not that they lost, it's the way they played. I was there Friday night and I could not believe how disengaged the team was. Poor breakouts, poor passing, no jamming in front of the net on those rare occasions that they had zone time. Defensively allowing a mediocre Northeastern offense to just wheel in the zone. Ironically Tirone had one of his better games considering he was under siege the whole game. Yes, I missed the first period plus of the Saturday game but when I walked in the show was the same. We all know UNH does not have talent beyond maybe 4 or 5 players. As a result, I expect them to lose against teams that are better than them. But I don't expect a lack of effort. What happened between the 1-0 loss vs. Lowell when they played probably their best defensive game of the year and this past weekend when they did nothing? Games in hand mean nothing if you have no chance of winning them. Their next six are against ND, Providence, BC and Lowell, the latter four on the road. Maybe one win or two at the most. Go Pats.
Spot on.

Puke dripping from their face masks a la Drew Pearson is not necessary, but skating/competing so hard that the 4th line must play more minutes is.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Ok, what if we come in 11th and NICC 6th?

Y'all seem to be forgetting that I have to travel almost 5,000 miles to see a UNH game. Whether those 5,000 miles end in Durham, NH, or South Bendover really doesn't make a difference to me, travel-wise!:D

Boy some might just call you an over the top fan there sir! It's ok you are in good company 😉

I've been called worse! Google translate babaca from Portuguese and you'll catch my drift.

I will predict a single solitary point this weekend, coming on Friday night, They'll have traveled in from the prairie, and will be disorganized. Saturday night we will receive payback.

Well, maybe I, too, should make a trip to NICC, now that this HEA matchup appears to be inevitable. I cannot get to the Whitt this weekend, and I have made trips to Alfond and the Gutt to see hockey games for the first time this season. So, perhaps NICC will be my fate.

Personally I'd love to see them when they play AZ state...On another note, strange we are expecting snow this weekend...remember last year????

Oh, yeah, that's right. Our UNH superfans, who rarely post here now, had to rent a car one way to get back here in time for work. Hard core, I would say.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Hey gang don't look now but UMaine is beating QU 3-1...

So, how long will it take the Black Bears to make up the 11 PWR point differential with us, not that it matters?

Haha well it ended in a 3-3 tie...Maine had two penalties called in their own PP which led to the 6 on 3 advantage. QU escapes a fate worst than death! Q: we were at 41st before this game and now at 39 how did that tie help us? (And like you said not that it matters)

If Maine had won, we would have really rocketed up in PWR. :-) Sigh.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

It's really kind of depressing what we've been reduced to *rooting* for.

No offense guys ... I guess this is our new reality.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

On a side note, if UNH can't put a good product on the ice, could they at least have someone who can sing the National Anthem well? Saturday's singer didn't even know the words, much less the tune. My personal vote is the Rev for every game and a recording of him if he has a prior commitment. Second suggestion - the band and let the audience sing along. The band is actually quite good and, I think, underutilized (I'd rather hear the band at every stoppage rather than canned music).

So it kind of 'works' like this: anytime a team we beat beats a ranked team, that helps us in PWR. I was shocked to see us in the 40's yesterday...thanks Maine for putting us up in the 30's again...sigh. Yes Chuck, it is weird to think I was pulling for MAINE to win a game but figured hey, it's the number 1 team..it will be the highlight of their season. They did control most of the first 2 periods. Top line of QU and 2 dumb penalties at the end. Geeze why am I recapping THEIR game? Argh.

Totally agree; it's always better when the REV is in the house!!! And I still, still don't like the intro. Wah.

Yep, our world is upside down right now.

Hard to believe that its only Chuck and Felger giving the 'Cats a chance this weekend...

After watching the QU v UMaine game I am a believer!!!! :p Seriously, I think 'on any given night' and don't know that much about NIIC. I know Chuck thinks they are highly overrated and I'm looking for a much better weekend COMPETE wise, from the 'Cats. I say split too...I believe the 'Cats are a MUCH better team than what they showed this weekend v NU. Consistency in showing that has been difficult this season. Which team is gonna show up?

NU is championship-driven, despite not having their best forwrd in the lineup.

I know one thing about NICC, and that is their helmets are blinding and should be made illegal.
