Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Furgele falls down on the a 2 on 2. Quast is forced to take down the attacking BC forward. BC to the powerplay

And 2 seconds in UNH is gonna draw a seriously weak penalty call on BC's center for interference. And we now have a 4 on 4.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Huge save on Eiserman by Demko. It's a great initial shot to the far pad which forces a big rebound right to Eiserman. But Demko slides across and robs Eiserman on that rebound.

UNH then turns the puck over and BC gets a breakaway and UNH catches a break as the puck hits the post and stays out.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

BC takes their timeout. York trying to settle down his team. UNH making a push to tie up the game, 14 left in the 3rd.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

UNH ties it with 12 mins left in the 3rd. Pots wins a puck battle along the wall and gets the puck down low to Correale. Correale wraps it around the net and throws it across the goal mouth and Poturalski buries it. 2-2!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

And a shot from the point sneaks through traffic and into the net 3-2 BC. halfway through the 3rd

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

A minute later BC scores again, 4-2 Eagles. little chip shot up over Tirone's glove. He probably wants that one back. Really too bad because he's played well tonight.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Wow and now Correale spins a backhand into the net, 4-3 BC with 9 mins left.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

4 minutes left. UNH is having a hard time getting the puck into BC's end.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Icing on BC with 1:50 left. UNH decides to use their timeout so that they can keep their first line out there.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

UNH with multiple chances with the goalie pulled. Penalty on BC with 8 seconds left negates a BC empty net goal. And gives UNH 1 more chance.

Refs are reviewing something. They add 2 more seconds to the clock. 10 seconds for UNH to score

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

UNH gets a final chance to score but it stays out and the game ends 4-3 BC.

UNH played hard tonight. The D pair of Quast and Furgele struggled tonight. I'd really prefer to see Dawson in there over Quast. I thought Cleland and Marks did a good job providing on offense. And the offense had plenty of chances. It's clear that BC has more talent than UNH, but the 'cats really gave BC a run for their money tonight.

Awww...sooo close. Another great game for DT...and 'Cats play well in the loss. Thanks for the play by play '34!! BC announcers not too thrilled with the officiating. Onto UML Go 'Cats!!

Helps to have 13 draft picks I guess and totally agree; I like Dawson's game. In a scrappy one like this he's the clear choice.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

I never made it over to Conte tonight, so thanks for the play-by-play, DC and 34. Might I add that our Cats matched the Eagles in......dare I say......38 SOG? Too bad that our Cats did not play this well against NU, NICC, and several other poseur teams last semester.

I guess we can 100% agree that Josh's general absence from the boards is a loss for all of us. I don't know Cloud9 so I won't go there, but he's been an informed, opinionated and entertaining poster too. But just to be clear ... I never disappeared from the boards, I just cut way back on posting because other things were more important and taking up what used to be spare time spent here. I still don't get to see as many games as I did in the old days - my choice, but influenced by other commitments - which I hope changes someday? I'm guessing these changes/choices may apply to Josh and/or Cloud9 now, and hopefully someday they'll be back and more active again, too.

I'd say I'm sorry if you've been offended by my presence ... IF I was sorry, but I'm not. :p If my posting on this thread (or "other team's threads" ) offends your sense of protocol, then I think that's more your issue than mine. After all, back in the days of the posters you cited earlier ... forays into "other team's threads" were not so uncommon, were they? We had fun, we met people, no one died and we had some laughs - and lots of them were at our own expense. :o

Re: "minions" ... seriously ... do you ever feel this "whooshing" sound when you're posting, 'dc?

The *Massengil* reference was a nice touch, though. Mega classy.

To be honest, I've rarely (if ever) come on here claiming to have oodles of inside information. I have some - used to have a little more back in the day. I'm sure HR has way more current interactions with folks close to the program now. If your measurement of a poster is based on how well-connected they are to the program today, then I lose, and I'm fine with that. Do I need tons of insider info to form an informed opinion on 90% of the stuff that we discuss on here? I don't think so ... and if it's needed and I don't have it, I'll say so. And if someone does tell me something they want held in confidence, then it is held in confidence. But I'll chime in based on those insights.

You see, when I started at USCHO way back when, I made a deal with myself, which I stick to on any other message board I post to, and it is really quite simple. I am who I am - I'm not "Cat Scratch Fever" or "Umile's Whistle" or something creative but safely anonymous. So when I post something, I have to stand behind it. And if I'm wrong, I admit it and move on. I don't disappear or change to a new ID. I'm probably the most transparent person on here, although Greg is probably pretty much the same in sharing without hiding. I'm not doing it for "attention" or for a participation medal - it's just my own way of keeping myself in check. I've only changed one bit of info in my USCHO profile since my "quiet time", which was probably to give myself a minimal layer of protection from annoyed fellow posters (sound familiar?), and all in all it's a pretty transparent gag that most folks on here have already picked up on.

I'm not recommending or expecting others to take the same approach to transparency that I've taken - it sets me up for shots like some of those you've taken at me today - but that's how I roll, and I'm not planning to change.

I'd like to think the bottom line is we're all on here to contribute and be a fan on our own terms. I never came here expecting everyone to like me, so if you don't like me or the way I handle myself on these boards, then don't let me cramp your style.

I do appreciate you laying your cards on the table though, 'dc. Honesty is the best policy. Now scram. ;)

Sorry to everyone else for wasting your time. Hope the 'Cats find some joy during this challenging weekend.

Chuck, I'm with ya. I don't post often but do follow the UNH thread. I agree that the "followers" of UNH hockey are much softer now than they used to be. We've lost the people who called it like it is. Tonight I see posts saying basically they played tough tonight. Who cares. UNH has lost 8 of their last 9 games! Let's face it people this team is not good. I am a lifelong fan of UNH hockey. This team is the worst performing in about 20 years.

I agree that this team is the worst performing team in 20 years. And have no problem calling out the players who shouldnt be out there. Or calling out Umile for starting the wrong people for half the season and playing less talented seniors for way too long. Or calling out the administration for their mishandling of the program, and the academics department for their part in the recruiting failures. The one thing I hate more than anything is how often this season they have come out and seemingly not cared about the outcome. There have been so many times where they have just come out so flat and blown games that clearly should have been wins.

I can't count how many times I've been left with a sour taste in my mouth after watching a game this year. But tonight was not one of those nights, and I do care that they played tough. Because if they hadn't then I would have been mad about wasting my money to watch a boring game. At least they gave me something to cheer about tonight.
