UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

From what I saw he is not likely to be an NHL player. Limited scoring skills beyond his speed and ability to disrupt using his body. Yet, he has managed to get a couple of goals (mostly garbage type) in a competitive league, and a lot more assists from creating loose pucks in good areas. Anyway, not sure why they burried a big part of the future on the 3rd and 4th lines with a walk on (Chris Miller).

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

According to sources I trust, there were non-hockey reasons Foegele wanted to play in Kingston, Ontario. As for how he was utilized in his 5 games this season at UNH, he started the season on a line with Vela and Eiserman, then Vela and Hill. He had one assist and 3 shots on goal in those two games. He was then combined with two speedier linemates - Nazarian and Hill then Nazarian and Miller. In all Foegele contributed 1 assist and 8 shots on goal in 5 games. Moving to Kingston was a positive for him and he responded by playing more like he did in Canadian prep school. He could very well become an effective NHLer someday.

It took a while for Foegele to pick up his game when he moved to Kingston, Ontario to play for the Frontenacs. He scored 3 goals in his first 22 games. He was then moved to center on a line with Michael Dal Colle, the 5th overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft. They have clicked and Foegele ended the regular season with 13 goals and 35 assists in 52 games.

I've been following WF on Twitter and he has picked up the scoring as Mike indicated. Wish things had worked out for him but he's obviously doing well and in an interview I listened to seems very happy. So what's next for him? When his season ends will he go to the Canes training camp this summer? Play another year for the Fronts? What do those of you in the know see as the most obvious place he'll end up? Curious..

Eiserman? It would be off the board. Maller, Hill much more likely.

He was my first thought - if they went that route - but, he was benched a few games and kicked out of a few more over his first two years. If they went the sophomore route, maybe Vela? The more I look at the roster, the more I realize they don't have anyone who jumps out at you with certain high-end ability or noticeable on-ice leadership (past Cleland and Kelleher). So, if I had to guess right now - unless there is an unknown leader in the locker room - I'd say the choice will be a 'C' for both #2 and #16...

If they want to add a third, I'd expect Cleland to be the captain, Kelleher an assistant and the team defaulting to one of the other seniors getting an 'A' as well (as opposed to a junior or sophomore with as of yet untapped potential in one or both areas)...

EDIT - good for Foegele. He was completely mismanaged and undervalued by the HC for more than a year. I don't blame him one bit for leaving. His play in Kingston proves he should have been playing a bigger role in Durham...

Dan, I think it would be cool to see two 'C's out there; is that common? Eiserman is / would be an interesting choice for the "A" but thinking he's a year out...

And, while I know not everyone was pleased to see WF leave (and not to belabor the point) it's more than obvious he is flourishing and in his interview he was pressed on more than one occasion about why he left UNH...his basic response was "college was not a fit for me". He made no excuses either; just wasn't working for him. Like Mike says, there's other non related hockey stuff in this as well and of course, it's water over the dam, or over the bridge, or, whatever! He's where he wants to be and that's all that matters. Personally can't / don't blame him in the least...and I hope he makes it to the NHL one day...Just hope we can find that player to fill those skates, have we?

Big game today for B's fans out there, (aren't they all right now??) Hard to root against TvR and the BHawks but in this case, sigh... Trying to convince hubby to buy some cheap seats to see Brett Pesce play Tuesday night.

And not in good graces of new Assoc HC!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Important to remember that while Foley wore an 'A' in 2001-2002 when he was a sophomore in terms of eligibility, he was actually in his third year with the program. (Redshirted due to injury in 2000-2001.) During his RS year he was much more involved with the team than a number of other players. For instance while you might see the players who didn't dress on their phones, or at the concession stands, I'd see Pat with a clipboard during games, then see him head downstairs after warmups or between periods. Not sure any sophs on the team fit that bill.

Not making any predictions, just sayin'...

TvR should get lots of ice time today with Duncan Keith suspended.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

After six unanswered Chelsea Daggers (I hate that goal song), B's leave the Blackhawks fans stunned with two of their own in 11 seconds at end of second. Just to stay on thread track here, TvR has been held scoreless so far. Glad that I did not pay for a flight and ticket to see this one.

So funny you say that about their goal song (also 'Macks!!) I hate it toooooo. Welp, B's gave it their best, but where was that Period 1 and 2? Going to see Brett P play Tuesday!

B's like Cats, inept bluelne.

A good friend of mine that's an ardent 'Cat and B's fan has said the same all season long...but I do love Torey K regardless of his ineptness ;)
