So, 30 years ago Peter Douris a sophmore takes his 51 points leaving a 16-26-1 team. He and junior Richmond 50 pts were biggest scorers.

Oh, and it was Holt's second to last year.

The next year Richmond, now semi solo (he had Nhler Steve Leach) fell from 50 pts to 31. Unh finished 5-29 in Holt's last year.

Hmm, you are are right, Chuck. Maybe after his freshman year (5+11=16), his Great Expectations (apologies to C Dickens) were too high?

I mean he's not good enough to a) be rightly upset about his limited role in lieu of inferior seniors b) be aggressively pursued by MJ options or c) have a potential NHL future to worry about protecting...

As for Poturalski, I think you're way off the mark.

No, they weren't. Play Foegel(E) and Eiserman in the roles they had earned and alongside Vela and they have very good sophomore years. Foegele, in particular, would have been great playing with Vela and Nazarian/Eiserman/Gaudreault on a second line/second PP unit. The kid has 44 points in 48 major junior games. He wasn't given a chance and it was a ****-poor decision by the staff...

As far as next year's freshmen, Chuck. No doubt BVR and CK will get major ice now that Poturalski is gone - Grasso too will see much more time - but the impact freshman are certainly Blackburn and Fregona. If the other three can also make significant immediate impacts, all the better...

You are preaching to the choir here, Dan. If the senior/checking line had been played in their proper third or fourth line role, I think we would have had four to five more W's the first half, and perhaps carried some of those positive vibes into the second half. Then again, if Clark had not been hurt, who knows, we might have been knocking on the Garden door again, if not a NCAA bid.

I know we're in agreement with how poorly Coach handled the early part of the season, and it's possible/probable that cost him Foegele, but I don't remember Foegele lighting it up in those early games either.

I'll give Poturalski this much - he waited a lot longer into the season before checking out. Foegele quit so early, he probably shouldn't have even bothered to return in the first place.

According to sources I trust, there were non-hockey reasons Foegele wanted to play in Kingston, Ontario. As for how he was utilized in his 5 games this season at UNH, he started the season on a line with Vela and Eiserman, then Vela and Hill. He had one assist and 3 shots on goal in those two games. He was then combined with two speedier linemates - Nazarian and Hill then Nazarian and Miller. In all Foegele contributed 1 assist and 8 shots on goal in 5 games. Moving to Kingston was a positive for him and he responded by playing more like he did in Canadian prep school. He could very well become an effective NHLer someday.

Very analogous. Back then UNH had a few good players but the rest of the roster was just not D1 level. Personally, I see the same next year. Just not enough experienced quality players, even if Vela, Nazarian and Eiserman advance.

Maybe someday they'll put a Tim Horton's franchise on the Seacoast, and we won't have these problems anymore. ;)
