Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread (Part 2)

But yeah, the activity on the boards last night was a pretty regular occurrence "back in the day", and it was nice to see. :)
On the other hand, the massive threads we used to have in the Score Updates section seem to have died away completely. :(

I can remember close to 300 posts during some games. Sometimes we even discussed the game itself.

Or, I believe it was NU's second goal, when an NU player rung his arm around a UNH player's neck at the blueline completely taking him out of the play with NU going on to score seconds later.
I'm not one to complain about the refs but was shocked they let that one go. The NU player was going down and took the UNH player with him via a horse collar job.

I suspect expansion of social media AND on-line streaming options has led to the downfall of the game threads.

But you are right ... that used to be a very busy place, and not just for UNH games.

Time and technological advances march on ...

On the other game -- Never mind the on ice call negating BC's goal, and the countless video replays before the call was upheld. I get to subtly take a shot at him it anyway.

“He’s got the whistle. He’s got the (arm) band,” said Boston College head coach Jerry York about the call."...

A simple Belichick "it is what is" would probably have sufficed. ;)

Thanks -- my first time on this thread all season. Nice to be back! (even if I can't spell fledged properly).

Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread (Part 2)

Having watched this team for the last 20 years I am so happy they are going to Boston this weekend. 10 years ago I would be content they're going as they made the trip what seemed like every year. I think from here on out the remaining games they play are going to be fun to watch for a change. I don't know about you guys but over the years I get all worked up around this part of the season (shake in my seat, can't watch opponents odd man rushes) because the pressure/ expectation for UNH is so high. We usually expect them to not only make it to the NCAA's with flying colors but win the stupid thing. This year is different however. I can now go down to Boston Friday afternoon and just watch the game for the glory of hockey. I feel there is no pressure. Every win from here on out is a bonus as you guys were saying. And if there is such a thing as luck then i think we might just possess it right now. Who knows maybe luck, not skill not Umile, will somehow in some bizarre fashion allow us to win the next 6 games in a row, but as i said every W from here is just going to be that much better. Lose to PC and i think the season is still a win from the standpoint of their record. Go Cats. Win as many as this luck thing allows eh?

Watched NU goals again for Sundays game , quite alarming to see all those goals scored in the paint . ( carbon copy of saturday ). Hopefully coaching staff will address this as the ice surface will be smaller and more traffic in front of net .

Yes well said but disappointed UNH didn't take care of business on Saturday , a win their and Unh could have been under 16 in the power and had a decent shot at Ncaa's with one more win . Now its sweep or go home ,UNH is a better team than the record indicates just a poor coach in my humble opinion .

Playing with house money now anyway (yesterday's game was close enough to have gone either way).

Luck works for me, and often does in playoffs. 2 013 Red Sox, anyone?

Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread (Part 2)

I'm EXTREMELY jealous of you guys... would kill to be at the Garden. Will have to pray that I can get some decent bandwidth to watch online.

unh1982 - the crew needs to get a few rounds in you and bring you over to the "glass-half-full" side!! :-)

Enjoy the games - I'm thinking that unless we bring home the hardware, an NCAA bid will get dicey. Would rather have us control our destiny than hope for the downfall of the Colgates of the world.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread (Part 2)

By the way, did we REALLY have Benedetto and Hansen yesterday? 10 years ago, that combo at the Whitt would have raised my BP about 20 points before the game even started!!!

I'm hoping to be in town on Friday, so count me in. You may be the only poster I've met before from the current group (apologies to any others I may have lost track of :o ) - and that was way back at the St. Paul FF in 2002, I think? - so that would be fun. Let's see what snively65 can put tog
ether as our cruise director, and if it doesn't work out, we can blame him. :p ;)

Love to meet you you all just bought my Tix for Friday (will wait and see for
Sat ). Please post where the meet up is...was surprised to see a lot of lower seats already gone...sitting in Loge 20! Go 'Cats!

Ditto! Well said! Obviously not of the same magnitude as the FF but UNh found a way to win yesterday against a 'Never
Say Die' NU team...We'll take it! To me this weekend is our FF in my book...great work 'Cats! You never know! Go 'Cats!
