BTW - is Sorkin injured, or has he been a healthy scratch for the last two games? Haven't been following too closely. But if it's the latter, I'm guessing a minus-5 on the plus-minus might be indicative of an issue. Pretty much all of the other forwards of note are in the plus figures (Goumas +16), although some of the other forwards hardly covered themselves in glory with their backchecking last night ...

I also agree. I commented during the game about how poised the young BC defense looked. It was an interesting game. BC cashed in on a handful of breakdowns in transition (REALLY BAD breakdowns), but otherwise, the game was played a lot in the neutral zone. There wasn't a lot of sustained possession time on either side. UNH had more shots, but honestly, how many grade A shots did they have?
It was nice to see a good clean (non-BU) game. When it got out of hand, UNH could have easily gotten chippy and it didn't seem that they did. Despite the recent dominance, I still will take a good clean UNH/BC game any day over any other matchup in the league... hoping for a different result tonight at the lake..

these two always play good clean games. I've always felt that the most entertaining games on the schedule are with UNH but last night wasn't one of the best (TV timeouts?) , save for the unavoidable Gaudreau gawking that you always find yourself doing when he is on the ice.

Last night’s loss was not unexpected given BC’s talent and that they “needed” the game more given the post break records. The score was disappointing. It was difficult to see the ‘cats out competed and make so many mistakes. Defensemen cannot jump into the offensive zone against BC’s top (two?) line(s). Watching on NESN, Goumas looked like he had the speed and skill to compete with the Eagles. Henrion and Block had some moments as well. No one else impressed. Hopefully we play smarter tonight after being exposed to BC’s speed and skill. Perhaps with last change, match our 3rd or 4th line against BC’s top line and focus on defense?

It hurts hearing the entire NESN crew refer to Johnny Hobey. How about a little creativity, Johnny Gaudreau-bey?

Tonight we find out if we are a top 10 team.

Where is Sorkin?

Oops. I think you are right. Same reaction, more creativity needed, such as USCHO's "Johnny B. Gaudreau".

Now that's the team from the first half! Great team defense tonight with the forwards getting back in the play, sound defensive positioning and some clutch blocked shots! Offensively, the Wildcats got to the front of the net and it paid off with Henrion's game-winner. The energy line of Willows, Correale and Camper got another one and they continue to be very strong - they're forgiven for the giveaway tonight! That is a line that has consistently outworked opposing lines since being put together. The whole team needs to take note and do the same, remembering what it was that allowed them to be successful in the first half. Tonight was a great step back to that level of play...

All in all tonight was an amazing game to be at. I was pleased to see UNH's effort throughout the game, with the exception of BC taking over for a time after tying the game. The powerplay was a little frustrating early on as they didn't put a man in front and shot from the perimeter when BC defenders would collapse on the net. In the end however that strategy got them the rebound they were looking for. I felt like this game was not as close as the score indicates and you can credit Milner with that. I loved the physical play from both sides. I did not appreciate what Matheson brought to the game but once he was booted, I didn't take issue with anything else. Two great teams fighting hard for two points.

It was good to see Willows get his first goal, especially since I picked him for the goal of the game and it won me some lift tickets to Gunstock. That line is looking good and has earned its spot as the third line tonight.

Now it's time to take care of business as there are a lot of games against some of the "lesser" teams in the league coming up.

nice win by you guys in a game i think you really had to have. great atmosphere but can you please build a foot bridge over the train tracks?

The footbridge will never happen. Amtrak owns the space and the money they want is outrageous (That info is from a friends father who works at UNH and has dealt with the prospects of building the footbridge). If you come to games avoid that lot all together. Take the road at the set of lights in front of the Whit and park in some of the back lots. 5 minute walk and no traffic on the way out.

Great game in general, for and by the ‘cats. Excellent crowd energy with a sold out student section during break. Fans with GA tickets were lamenting the lack of seating and the crowd, including those in the best seats, was standing and cheering in the final minute. A great adrenaline inducing game regardless of the outcome with the win making it sweet for UNH fans.

UNH reacted to their Friday performance as hoped. BC took penalties due to being out hustled and frustrated on certain plays. Contrary to some game thread posts, BC players, Arnold and Gaudreau come to mind, did complain to the officials. I didn’t see the hit on Goumas, but it was obvious the official was thinking misconduct right away, skating towards and motioning to the BC bench. Defend Matheson if you want, but the fact is he had three penalties, is an 18 year old Freshman with potential to grow physically and mentally. I thought Goumas was suffering in a more, ahem, sensitive area than the head and wasn’t surprised seeing him quickly back on the ice. The Henrion hit on Gaudreau, likely not as egregious, was clear retaliation. You run our best player, we run yours. Deal with it. Henrion showed leadership and desire. It was nice for him scoring the game winning goal.

The DeSmith scrum was a whistle that should not have been blown, but the officials recognized a mistake, made the best of it and had a face off to the right of the UNH goal. Move on.

The consensus among some very educated hockey people standing nearby during the beginning of the game was that the large ice surface would benefit BC. As the game progressed I thought it helped UNH, providing an extra second to make decisions and react with the puck and clearer passing lanes.

Johhny Gaudreau like Jim Rice or Manny Ramirez makes you stop whatever you are doing and watch. It was nice seeing UNH not only watch, but react. Gaudreau was frustrated and will be better for it.

Providence just 3 point back is up next. No time for a letdown.

LOL...you can't have it both ways. Either you're ok with both hits or you're not. In my eyes, leadership would have been drilling someone with a clean hit.

Nobody has really complained about that scrum, so I'm not sure who you're telling to move on. Some of you are awfully touchy...why is that? Congrats on the win.

the UNH player put his hand on top of the puck in the crease and pushed it towards the corner, the puck was about 4-5 inches from the goal line, i had a clear view of that. It is what it is. Without question, the two best in HE with BU and UML 3-4............ at this point these four sure look headed for the Garden
