UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

This is insane... UNH is now going on a 5x3 advantage as Miller goes for crosschecking. Game over now.

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

So, UVM should call a timeout, and depending on where the faceoff is, pull the goalkeeper if feasible.

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

How many years of this have we endured?
For me, I would date it to the 7-6 loss to RPI in the (slingle elimination game format) game in 1974, when we were #1 rated.

Entire season over (NCAA's also), under the format they had back then...

That's about the time when I started needing meds, too.

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

I know I cannot see the game, but can someone please explain how UNH cannot just play "keep away" with a 5x3 advantage??

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

That game was EMBARRASSING. What the hell was that, Umile?? Really?? You got LUCKY. Better play better than that next weekend. GRRRR!

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

Whew.

Game over!!

CATS WIN!! CATS WIN!!

UNH 4 - UVM 3

Well UNH choked away a 2 goal lead, but we get a late one from Sislo to send us to the Garden. Not sure why they lose their intensity when they get a lead, but I guess as long as they win the game.

Game over. Great effort on the 5-on-3 for the Catamounts, can't believe Downing missed the net on that partial breakaway. Thanks for the updates 9'ers boy, appreciate it. Good luck next week guys. Can't wait for October.

VF... you guys had a really rough season off the ice. I know you will be back and ready to go next yr, though. Sneddon is a good coach and always gets your players to play hard. Tough, tough series. Thanks for the good wishes and good luck next season.

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

Leave it in small type, Richard... it barely deserves more than that.
Agreed. And thanks for being on here, VermontFan -- usually it's just us. Hats off to the Catamounts for not folding when down two...

Re: UNH vs. Vermont Game 2

Do you suppose that this pair of wins will get the Wildcats into the NCAAs?

They have been pretty sure of an NCAA appearance for a few weeks. They have hovered between 8-12 in the Pairwise Ranking for many weeks now. Even the two BC losses didn't change their standing much. At this point in the season a couple wins or losses doesn't change much in the PWR. If I remember correctly, UNH was tied for 11th with three or four teams going in the weekend. Coming out they are in 11th alone with Sunday's games still being played.

My guess is a 3rd seed in the Northeast Regional no matter what happens next weekend. Two wins won't move them high enough for a 2 seed and a loss (with or without a win) won't drop them below 13 or 14 overall. That might end up as a 4th seed, but I doubt it. Unless there are some major surprises in league tournaments, they'll be only one automatic bid that's not already in the top 16. So the top 15 in PWR will move on to NCAAs.

Strange things can happen but you'll see UNH in Manchester. (They are sure to go there as the hosts as long as they get a bid.)
