UNH vs. Maine: The Border War, Part 3

Re: UNH vs. Maine: The Border War, Part 3

It's just too hard to win when your goalie gives up 3 weak goals. Amazing. Week after week after week.

Granted, we have other weaknesses. But, my goodness, if we just had a goalie that could stay in position, we'd have 4 or 5 more wins.

What happened??

With under a minute left Nyquist hit a post on a completely open net after DiGi made a desperation charge out of the goal. Shortly after that Thompson flipped a no angle backhand in off the side of the Maine Goalie.

Well, Dean made the Holy Hajj all the way from Vancouver to the Whitt for this weekend, as did Chad from Detroit. I'd say they picked A GOOD ONE.

Guys, you are hereby officially beered:

KTTSSSCCCCHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Some atrocious goaltending tonight including digi coming out after nyquist

Is it really that hard for Maine to find a halfway decent goalie?

Re: UNH vs. Maine: The Border War, Part 3

Well, congrats to UNH, an exciting win for you guys. If the tables were reversed I'd be as thrilled...

Re: UNH vs. Maine: The Border War, Part 3

That was about as big a swing in 30 seconds as I remember seeing in a while.

Nyquist, of all people, loses an edge to miss the open net and 20 seconds later, Kessel loses an edge and spills the puck over to UNH so Thompson can score on a flip banked off the goalie because Sirman didn't hug the post. ***?

Seriously, if you're Maine, and you see Nyquist get past any goalie with no one on him in a tie game with under a minute to go, you're thinking that's a win, right?

Wow...

Thank you, Bucky. I'm extra happy for normal Score Updates Thread presences Dean and Chad and Erin (see #103 below).

EDIT: And Clark-Hislop-Cox too!

Wow indeed. Fate so cruel -- four amazing goals, and hitting the post on a certain fifth (because he lost an edge while shooting?) costs Maine a sure win they'd apparently earned.

Good chatting with you all. Weird but memorable one.
