UNH @ RPI, Tuesday, 10/24/15

Re: UNH @ RPI, Tuesday, 10/24/15

Seth telling the team the play during the timeout:

"DO NOT GIVE UP GOAL. IF POSSIBLE, SCORE GOAL."

Re: UNH @ RPI, Tuesday, 10/24/15

Going into this game I was thinking that we might win one by a few goals for a change. But a win is a win is a win, and good teams find a way to do that even when they are not overly impressive. I'll take it.

Re: UNH @ RPI, Tuesday, 10/24/15

RPI wins 4-3. Good to come back in the third period.
But we can't be giving up three goal leads.
Hackett is still undefeated.

Re: UNH @ RPI, Tuesday, 10/24/15

We did find a way to kill off the last minute or two without UNH getting much out of their zone. That's one more thing i have not seen from an RPI team in a long time. Just win baby!!!!

Re: UNH @ RPI, Tuesday, 10/24/15

Tough tournament coming up. 3 other good teams but if we play to our strengths we can make it difficult for all of them.

Correct. We never gave them a chance to pull Tirone thus no shot at the empty netter.

I agree Doc - there's some negative sentiments here, but this squad did some things tonight Appert's teams havent done - play for each other, take advantage of a bad goalie, come back in momentum swings. Still not disciplined, but they can work on that. I chalk Milos's bad game to being out and trying too hard.

LGR!

Re: UNH @ RPI, Tuesday, 10/24/15

Milos needs to shake off the rust, no doubt. Another strong game from Rodriguez. I wondered about the hug he & Tirone shared in the handshake line. I looked it up, they played together @ SSM in ’10.

Giving up an early goal, what do you know...

I remember this from 07-08, blowing many 3-0 leads...[/QUOTE

Two UNH goals in the span of one minute thanks to another dumb, selfish penalty (away from the play) by a senior forward. Seth needs to present a very simple choice to the player: "Clean up your - - - - or you can go back and sit in the stands." Sorry to be blunt, but that's the message that needs to be delivered. This team busted its arse while he was injured and his term deserves better and should hold him accountable.

Although he didn't call him out by name, that's basically what was said in the press conference.

He can be an exciting and creative player, when he limits his on ice actions to just that. But his penalty minutes prevent him from being as good as he can be. And the timing of his penalties and the types he takes are just not forgivable. he almost cost us this game and his team mates should also have a little talk with him. He can be a great contributor this season but the penalties and sometimes forgetting to pass when a winger is open needs some work.

Sometimes teammates can get through when the coach doesn't. That's the kind of leadership we need.

While I agree with everything that has been said about Bubela on this thread, I am not sure that Appert agrees with everything.
Was I the only one that noticed Bubela going on to the ice after UNH's time out? If he was such a liability, why was he out there in the most important sequence of the game?
Very Interesting!!!!!!!!!!

He is a talented player. When he makes us of his talent he is an offensive force and somewhat disruptive defensively with his forecheck and long reach. Every one on this team has their short comings, as we all do off the ice. But he demonstrated a couple yesterday that almost cost us a win and they simply have to be addressed now (before we win the remaining 20+ games and sweep through the NCAA tournament).
