UNH Men's Hockey 2022 Off Season Thread- Goodbye Lake Whitt!

Everyone gets to be a fan on their own terms ... but sheesh, when the highlight of the postseason is one of your former guys gets a big goal in a big game FOR SOMEONE ELSE, I dunno. I have visions of Ray Bourque returning to Boston with his Avs' Stanley Cup. Not my cup of tea. OK, now carry on ...

So what Chuck! I spoke to some Mavs fans this morning and they were so happy he came there....its just being thrilled that at least a player you cheered for has a chance to do something amazing...win or lose they will never take that moment away from him that he scored a goal in the Frozen Four. It was a thrill to be there to see that...and if thats how I or anyone else who is finding some kind of freaking solace after 10 years of not much? Pfft.

Let's Go Benton Mavs!!

I understand, Ref. As I've always said, everyone gets to be a fan on their own terms. More than anything else, it shows just how far UNH has fallen. You definitely picked a rotten time to climb aboard the sinking ship that's since been the SS Wildcat.

I had to laugh last night. I was only able to pick up the Spanish broadcast version of the MN -MN State on ESPN3....no biggie. When Maass scored, I thought that I was watching a Mexican soccer game:

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! BEN-TON MAASS!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!!

Yeah I get it. Last nite while waiting for the train (I had left at the start of the 3rd to avoid all the crowds ) this 30 something sees me in my UNH garb and asks me "what the hell has happened to the Wildcats as he went to UNH etc..I said "we dont have the time to discuss lol"....Anyway..guess I'm just living vicariously through other teams successes...sighhhhhh

Why, do you have trouble pronouncing Souza?

Again, to be fair, the mistake was of the people who hired him before he had experience -- Umile and Scarano.

We've all had potential but not enough track to experience all what we will face as the top person. And we've all failed in our first crack at taking that position. That's what leadership requires -- letting people test themselves and prove themselves and putting them in a position to succeed only once they've learned enough.

Reaching out to someone who has not been challenged (or thinking Umile could teach him what he was lacking) was the mistake, not the one who was anointed before have the skills.

Blame is the surest way to stay stuck in a problem is a quote I saw once not saying your statement isn't valid.

So now we are indeed stuck in a problem. What to do seems obvious and now we wait to see how things go. In the meantime I'll just keep on living vicariously through the success of a fomer player's team poised to win their first ever NCAA title in their first attempt. Going to be a great game!

Someone asked me how many times UNH had been to the FF..off the top of my head I sad 4? Nope..7 is the correct answer twice in the Championship game but I dont have to remind any of you about those.

Bums me out to go to the TD and look longingly at the HE banner up in the rafters and wonder if I'll ever see even that but...I remain hopeful. You guys were lucky to have experienced what you did in the "other times".

Lol that is awesome Scott!

Enjoy the game! Should be fun. And pist, cheer for whom ever you like.

Obviously not the result was hoping for but still thrilled to see Benton get a shot at the show. Lots of UNH fans to chat with too which is always enjoyable! Tampa for sure next year I believe I've caught the FF flu!!!

Hats off to the Pios and their fans!

National Championship Game

No show in third period

5-1 final score

Yes, you were definitely living vicariously as a UNH fan....

Right?!? Of course I didn't have the emotional experience that you fans had. Worse part of the night? Sitting in the 300's at the TD...never again. Ha!

Ps...just watched the highlights of that UNH v Minnesota game...oh, my the heartbreak. But thinking this one was much worse?

{{opens 23-year old wound}} Hitting that goal post was brutal....just another inch and Durham would have worn the Titletown crown.

Very doubtful that we will ever see another UNH team like that in our lifetime.

Sorry about that Scott....OT always sucks when you lose and can only imagine how that must've felt in the big one. Yes, what a team they were....that top line, just sayin'.
