UNH Hockey: Where Do We Go From Here....

Re: UNH Hockey: Where Do We Go From Here....

The CDC tests kits were faulty from the get go so while we tried to use our own they didnt fit the bill. Regardless when all if this is said and done
..the lack of early testing is going to be the biggest miscue of the US pandemic. Imho (In addition to the lack of urgency initially and the down play of the seriousness of it)

Praying for the first responders and health care workers who struggle to get protective equipment to even do the testing!

Lots of disparities in testing tho I think will be the big one. But hey ho blame doesnt stop the virus..
And current testing. I looked in the Walmart parking lot for signs of a drive up testing clinic. What's the timing on that? How's Google doing with the national web site they first heard about during a Rose Garden briefing? This is not a rant at you, HR, just a rant.

Re: UNH Hockey: Where Do We Go From Here....

The fact that the Chinese flu aka. Covid 19 was a thing. Try to keep up!
I am trying. Bear with me. So the WHO offered testing kits after COVID-19 (the illness) or coronavirus (the virus causing the illness) was "a thing"? Does "a thing" = "discovered"?

Okay so you think Trump should have anticipated the Cinese Flu before the fact before Covid 19 was a thing? You're expectations are mystical Darius! Maybe you think he's a Shamin!

Regardless...he down played it initially heck even Hannity admitted that! (Hell officially froze over) "Like a miracle it will go away" "when the warm weather hits in April" Now to be fair...who knew what it would ultimately become. He gets alittle slack..albeit small from me.

That said...its new name is Covid-19. Should maybe drop that Chinese flu thing... it's not the flu. Kind of stigmatizing? (Uh oh snowflake alert!!!)Not as bad as GRID tho...the name given to the HIV epidemic...before they called it AIDS. (Gay Related Immune Deficiency) peace out! Got lesson plans to get ready...

You're grasping at straws Ref!

I'm not going to drop the "Chinese Flu" thing. If you think that this didn't start in China because of some politically correct group think then you are way off the mark Ref. They knew what it was and weren't up front with it and didn't deal with it.

It is a Chinese virus. It came from Wuhan and there is no reason to try to sugarcoat it. The Chinese failed the rest of the world by not being transparent. They own it.
I guess by your logic we should rename the Spanish and Hong Kong flus. What do the history teachers in your high school call the Spanish flu? (If they teach history these days in high school)

Yeah its really despicable how THEY knew what this was, weren’t up front about it and hesitate(d) to deal with it out of arrogance...

What did your history teachers teach you...

Ironically enough the Spanish Flu did not originate in Spain and we call it the Spanish Flu (because they ‘appeared’ to be hit the hardest) based on concerted efforts by other countries to abdicate themselves from any blame via PR spin. Which is exactly what you’re trying to do by passing blame about our response back on to them...

Did I state where it originated? I mentioned what it is called. Please do tell where the Hong Kong flu started.

e.cat...I am well aware where this virus originated from. It's ok. I know that most of the big pandemics come out of China and/or Africa. But it's not really a flu really..sure, it's a respiratory event, fever. Semantics I suppose. Call it what you want. I'm just a purist; like, for example, it drives me to distraction when people interchange the terms HIV with AIDS. It's correct to say the 'AIDS Virus' but not to say, you can catch "AIDS" (cringes). Curious, when Ebola hit, did you call it African Ebola?

Carry on.

I know. ok? No sugar coating it. It does come from China and as you say, Wuhan. There's plenty of blame to spread around but that's neither here nor there coz it's here. What matters now is that OUR lack of getting things going and to TEST to find out our numbers, is a big problem as well, now isn't it? Also, I know that many illnesses names can take on their origin. And I even know about the Spanish flu. Sorry, like I just mentioned...I'm a bit of a purist..no one ('cept Fox news) is calling it the Chinese flu at this point, but, hey, free country. Oh, and I've always known, because I've always been here.... :D (Said in the caretakers voice in the Shining) :

Ps...I liked the President's tone today; saying 'its bad'. This sucker could hold us up til August he said. No sugar coating that. (but gee, can he stop calling it the Chinese virus in his tweets)? Covid-19....sounds more intelligent somehow.

Lol, it was so readily apparent where you thought it originated. That’s why you used it as ‘proof’ you weren’t being xenophobic and were simply using an established system of naming flus. Except you were entirely wrong (which, yes I know, you can never admit too because of the whole can of worms that might open up)...

Labeling this a Chinese Flu is neither a scientific term or a common term for this virus - it’s your desperate attempt to pass the buck, absolve your boy and pretend nothing could possibly have been done to slow this issue that was and is also not really a big deal except it’s bad but we’re on top of it but it’s bad but we’re doing perfect....

Don’t act like a know it all if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

It is amazing you can read people’s minds. Read my post. I was commenting on the name of the flu. Also, in the same post I called it a Chinese virus not the flu as you insinuate. Your ego is far more developed than you reading comprehension. Absolve my boy and the rest of that comment. Where does that come from? Don’t put words in my mouth. Were you the kid shoved in the gym locker back in the day or are you a modern day Al Bundy? You certainly have a chip on your shoulder.
I’m a “no” it all? Ha!

Sure Jan.

Sorry for the typo. My mistake. See how easy that is...

Re: UNH Hockey: Where Do We Go From Here....

Which Ebola? If I’m not mistaken (a risky proposition) the multiple strains carry names of both places and people, I.e. Mayinga. Each of them having originated in Africa, naming the continent or even country would be inadequate. As for Covid-19, I’m surprised it’s not widely referred to as the Wuhan virus.

Hey there...I'm talking about the African outbreak in the 1970's and there was one more recently there as well. I am not aware of other places this has cropped up as you mention...And initially, yeah, the Wuhan virus; kind of like the 'AIDS Virus' which as I said somewhere, it correct. Me? I just have that preference to call it what science settles on in the end. You say tomato? :D

Speaking of Covid-19; the way I (and of course this is alllll spelled out at the C-19 thread) understand it is the slate of illnesses that results of contracting the novel coronavirus. Which originated in Wuhan, China. Soooo there we are! That wasn't so risky, was it?? ;)

Re: UNH Hockey: Where Do We Go From Here....

I am all for standing together...but hows about the president knock off his twitter tirades? Or call female reporters questions nasty? I'd have more respect for him but he does not warrant it.

If the President got anything approaching remotely fair coverage from the MSM for the last 3+ years, you'd have a point, HR. But Twitter (to which I don't belong/subscribe/whatever) is his only way to get his message out on his terms, and for once the MSM doesn't get to have full control of the narrative over a GOP president. And it drives the MSM into the depths of TDS. So I'm good with it in general.

I don't think any of us have ever said the guy is perfect. But given the alternatives in 2016 - a lot of same old, same old GOP'ers, and a horrendously corrupt, underqualified and unlikable Dem nominee, he seized the opportunity, kept a ton of promises to his base, and hasn't been the lapdog GOP prez the MSM and Dems have trampled over since the post-Reagan days.

You don't have to like him, and I don't expect you'll ever vote for him. But I will, and most others who did in 2016 will likely do so again in 8 months' time. Unless of course the President decides to postpone the election until 2024, which suits me just fine. :)

( … that's a joke, just like when he says he might keep running ad infinitum, to wind you guys up … )

Yeah its really despicable how THEY knew what this was, weren’t up front about it and hesitate(d) to deal with it out of arrogance...

It's not that complicated, Dan. The Communist Chinese - totalitarian dictatorship, command economy, using virtual slave labor, and without question the most truly racist (in the actual literal meaning of the word) regime currently on the face of this planet, experienced some boo-boo in Wuhan Province in China in late 2019 which appears to have had an animal-to-human transmission, and then went over to human-to-human transmission in early 2020. I believe both the WHO and CDC offered their support and intervention at some point during that stretch. And to the surprise of absolutely no one, the totalitarians in the Chinese Politburo said "no thanks, freedom loving capitalist pigs, nothing to see here, we got this, bye" or something to that effect.

So … the Chinese started it, the Chinese refused help with intervention, Trump shuts down travel to/from China (which I believe Canada was still allowing through earlier today) … and yet you falsely try to equate Chinese and US conduct. Seek help, please.

In the meantime, on the other side of the world, we have total unredeemable *****clown hacks like Nancy Pelosi, Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff (talk about "Captain Arrogance") trying to ram a totally bogus impeachment on the President. If we're going to play Monday Morning QB on Trump for every last little thing he does or doesn't do to set off his media critics or Democrats (apologies for repeating myself) ... maybe, just maybe, everyone (including the oxygen thieves on Capitol Hill) would have had a little more free time and focus to be out there actually doing the people's business, and maybe getting an even better jump on this thing?

Anyway, that's my token post for the evening, Dan. Take your victory lap about all of your other stuff I'm not responding to (and keep fooling yourself that any of it deserves a response), as if you didn't ignore a ton of stuff I posted. Unlike you, I don't think my $h!t is ice cream. Have a good one.
