That's gotta be the mid-range and long-term plan, Greg.
Success breeds success, failure breeds failure. So far, MS7 has it going in the right direction.
As you're well aware, MS7 lived a good chunk of the UNH glory days as a player. If anyone can sell what it means to be part of a successful UNH program, competing at a national level, he would be the guy. He can point to the pictures up on the arena walls, and weave a first-person "I was there" narrative for his recruits, telling him he wants these kids to be the ones who - with him at the helm - finally gets UNH to the top of the D-1 pyramid. Something that (barely) eluded him as a player in 1999.
Done correctly (sincerely), it can be a very attractive sales pitch. I guess I always figured it was going to be Pat Foley who would be the guy to be selling it. Events have unfolded that have given that opportunity instead to MS7. I think we're all rooting for him to pull it off. Whether it's the Rangers in 1994, the Red Wings in 1999, or (*gulp*) BC in 2001 … it's always special when a team or a program that's been close, but experienced a long drought, finally breaks through to win it all. I hope we all live long enough to see it, it would have to be the greatest single sporting event in the history of New Hampshire if/when it finally does happen.
No pressure, guys.![]()

I'll predict a 3-3 tie tonight at The Whitt. Which would show UNH is continuing to learn.![]()
Wrong score but correct result.Hard not to be excited about what the team is doing right now. Looks like it was a great turnout at The Whitt tonight.
It's starting to feel like something real is going on here.
So what was up with the refs tonight? I can understand why both teams were upset. Started the game calling nothing, then went to calling everything, then back to nothing. It was bad both ways, and very frustrating.
Anybody on the other end of the ice have some insight on why there was nothing called on ACs partial break away?
Finally from my angle it looked like Robinson would want that one back. I think he was just off his angle. Played a fantastic weekend.
What about the NOCALL on the Mac Adams hit?
Nice call on the tie Chuck. I'll take 3 points on the weekend.
Go Cats!
Good point on the officiating … at least for the final two periods ... it was wildly inconsistent, but bad for both teams. ... But the equalizer was on even strength, so it's hard to attribute that to the officiating.
My first reaction to Crookshank's partial breakaway in OT ... I was mildly surprised it didn't result in a call, but I guess it was back to whistle-swallow mode by then.
Hard to criticize Robinson for a weekend where he allowed one (1) goal against a top 10 team, so let's start there. But yeah, I also thought he might want that one back, too. Albeit it was a high skill move by Suter to push the puck past Verrier and turn the corner on him to create the shot in the first place … On to UConn.![]()
Me too! He went into the boards hard!So glad he returned to the game it did not look good. Inconsistent officiating is an understatement but I digress....![]()
