Do you have evidence to support this claim? The announcement came on the 19th but the deal with BC was in the works long before. It takes time to get to the right dollar amount.

Remember when the UNH Hockey "powers that be" wanted Mike Vecchione to play another season in the USHL? Boy, that was a huge mistake. Is there any indication that UNH told Henriquez they wanted him to stay in juniors another season?
I am in favor of the rule but it appears I am in the minority of college hockey fans.I am curious about thoughts on the new proposed 5 in 5 rule that could take effect in June. I am thinking this favors the middle-tiered teams like UNH and counterbalances the NIL advantage. Elite programs depend on early‑departures to pros (or NIL‑driven transfers). UNH historically keeps players longer and could focus on late bloomers while developing longer term cohesiveness. The double-edged sword here has been the lack of player development over the past 8-10 years. Does this rule aide in attracting a higher-level Coach if MS7 doesn't turn things around dramatically this year?
Hokydad was right about that one! And he reminded us all often.Remember when the UNH Hockey "powers that be" wanted Mike Vecchione to play another season in the USHL? Boy, that was a huge mistake.
Hopefully this means you guys get a new coach. The rivarly is much more fun when both teams are equally competitive. From the UNH Wildcat Weekly email newsletter:

After four years as the university’s Director of Athletics, Dr. Allison Rich will be departing UNH at the conclusion of her contract this summer.
UNH will be assembling a search committee with the goal of identifying the department’s next leader before the start of the fall semester. More information about that process and opportunities for campus participation will be shared soon.

I am not shocked but I am surprised. I think that MS7 should now be very worried if he cannot turn things around this season. From the UNH Wildcat Weekly email newsletter:

I certainly agree. No one’s seat is hotter than MS7 this coming season. He doesn’t want to suffer the same fate as Herrion who was dismissed after his first season under Rich. I wonder if MS7 foresaw this happening, and further pushed him to go “all in” on the portal to give him the best chance to make a good impression under his new boss.I am not shocked but I am surprised. Best news of the offseason, including the portal pluses. Now hopefully the "search committee" won't mess this hire up like they messed up the last one ...From the UNH Wildcat Weekly email newsletter:
