Read Haydens is closing this May… will be sad to see them go! Certainly a downtown staple for a long time - I think over 30 years?
Not sure how their online sales were, but I imagine the internet giants were really eating into their profit margins.

With the transfer portal coming up soon, one “out of the box” thought I had for UNH was:
What if UNH tried to get some top guns from DIII?
I don’t know to what degree (if at all) DIII stars translate up to DI. I don’t know if there’s a significant track record for these kinds of moves in the transfer portal era. I know theres a history of DI guys moving to lower divisions in the past. What about the flipped direction?
I think UNH needs to be creative with the portal as I can’t imagine they will be able to entice the top guys from other schools when going up against the BCs, BUs, and all the good Midwest/western teams in DI.
From a cursory glance at the DIII portal, I saw Jonathan Surrette from Assumption (relatively local). He’s 6’0” and just put up 65 points in 33 games this year. He has one year of eligibility left. I wonder if UNH would have any interest in the top guns of DIII to maybe find a “diamond in the rough”?

The skill and speed gap between the two leagues is massive.
UNH had Ryan Black transfer in after playing a full career at Babson during his bonus Covid year. He was a ~1.5pt/g producer in D3 and put up 13 points in 34 games with UNH. His presence and story was a bright spot in an otherwise horrific 22-23 season. It can be a nice move to fill a desperate gap but it is not a meaningful strategy beyond that, particularly in a conference like HE.
That’s fair, I forgot about Ryan Black! Perhaps due to that horrific 2022-2023 season as you mentioned!
Perhaps DIII guys would have more interest in Atlantic hockey if they wanted to make the jump to DI. Perhaps there is more of a precedence there as well.
Hopefully MS7 and co. have a solid plan/pitch to entice some solid guys to join the crew in Durham. I imagine they are going to heavily rely on the renovations to get some guys to join.
We will see how successful their sales pitch is in a couple of weeks.

You would think with 3 Associate Athletic Directors and an Assistant Athletic Director of Communications that you would want to put something out.
Associate Director, Athletic Communications (MHOC, MSOC, WSOC), Social Media Coordinator
You would think that with All 3 sports this Associate Director covers done playing for the year there might be some time to get some social media or web page coverage of the big new change Hockey has needed for recruiting to get covered.
