UNH Hockey Off Season Thread 2026

Your utter lack of self-awareness is astounding. Quit while you're behind and do the rest of us a favor, willya?

Based on Darius' last post, wondering what transpired last evening while I was away, but several posts seem to have been deleted. Mustah been a corkah ...
Oh, Buford, you are even dumber than I imaged. Yeah, Jory Capital. That’s the ticket. lol. You don’t even know where the game is being played let alone the score

I was away for a little while too and then I returned. I’m still here, reading and occasionally posting but for the first time since joining the USCHO fan forum am no longer “watching” the UNH threads. Effing hillbillies. Go burn some wood lol

I’m out too. It was one thing to come up with disrespectful names for everyone, but to make baseless claims that people on here are racist is ridiculous. Not going to watch Darius defend that either. Potluck speaks nonsense and has no insight on the team whatsoever. These guys are my friends and it’s absolutely not worth sharing information with people like him who can’t even be bothered to see a single game. For those who do, my DMs are open and happy to share information with the right people and ask the questions people are dying to know. Hopefully the new season will bring some positives and make it worth coming back.

What a shame we cant have civil discussions here!! Dang...theres enough awful in the world right now!! I just went to a funeral yesterday for a dear cousin..this is the 2nd brother this family has lost in 6 months. Talk about sad...

When I came here / became a fan I remember getting some heat from outsiders but the UNHers on this board rallied around me. Sure they were most bemused at my 'rah rah pompom' self but the sense of community was strong.

I hope those who are leaving/ have left will consider returning. Dont let the negative drive your life its too damn short!!! ❤️

Again hope to see anyone who is going to Vegas...soon we will have our Frozen Four teams and I couldn't be more excited to go. Will be more than proud to wear my UNh jersey and be a part of the extended hockey family! And yeah I will live vicariously through those there who's teams will do battle for the best prize in all college sports (well outside of field hockey..ha)

Xo you guys!

“Let’s keep this thread about UNH hockey. If someone’s trying to stir things up, just scroll past it. No need to let one poster drive fans away—there’s plenty to talk about with next year’s roster.”

UNH hasn’t been relevant in ages, but this forum stays elite because the people here actually show up. The mix of diehards, cynics, historians, and chaos agents makes every thread more entertaining than most games. We argue, we overanalyze, we meltdown, and we come back like nothing happened.

And seriously—don’t let one critic who clearly isn’t a real fan derail the relevance of our team’s thread. If someone shows up just to stir the pot (how ironic), that says more about them than about UNH hockey or this community.

That’s why this forum is still the best.

Well said sir!!
I have a saying about those who live to stir the pot..."The last one to stir up the sh*t has to lick the spoon" 😆😆😆

So according to CHC on the UNH Hockey Blog Romeo, Tournas, Von Richter and Zebeski have all signed their financial aid agreements. Four decent players that should make immediate impacts. I'm sure another goalie in the portal and it would be nice if Souza can grab another impactful player. Until we find out how many are bailing to the portal it's hard to do any more speculating.

Isn't it sad that the the "strategy" of MS7 and UNH Hockey depends on the availability of leftovers and cast offs in the portal?

Reeks of desperation. Remember, when recruits WANTED to play for UNH rather than it being an option of last resort?

So Darius obviously reported me and is a grumpy old women. Two for one with potty. Potluck is just someone I wish woud just die.

So I’m out. JB, Chuck, ref, emily you have my number. We will talk. The rest of you good luck
What makes you so sure it was Darius who reported you, norbie? The only deletions I'm aware of in the long history of UNH threads on the USCHO boards have happened recently, and in close proximity to events when cpo pottymole gets his panties in a bunch. Darius has been on here for many years before this latest yearlong potty crap-fest, and there was never a snitching thing going on, even when discussions/debates were FAR more contentious than this minor league BS.

Darius can be horrified about some of the content, as others also have been, and that is their right, opinion and prerogative to say so. I'm sure some of that is directed at me, too. I'm OK with it, I've never thought there was unanimous agreement out there on everything I've posted lol. I can handle good faith criticism.

Problem here has been, at least for the last year plus since cpo pottymole prematurely came out of his promised permanent retirement, not everyone on here is participating in good faith. So it's probably the worst kept secret (so much so it's actually not a "secret") that many of us know each other and can hold each other accountable for things, where maybe someone goes too far. Personally, back in the day, I took it to much broader lengths when I'd reach out to folks at other fanbases (BU, BC and UMaine, starting when that was the Hockey East "Big Four") and got to know the most knowledgeable, passionate AND provocative posters from those groups. To my amazement - considering how relatively new the Internet/message boards were back then, pre-social media - almost everyone was happy to meet. Amazingly, no blood was spilled. No ridiculously personal lines were crossed. Content and humor got better. Most everyone "got it".

The question here isn't that there is disagreement on what ails UNH. There is plenty of grist for that mill now, further complicated by many new issues emerging from this brave new world of NIL, players getting paid, etc. ad nauseum. The issue is how those questions are being debated, and when one (1) poster refuses to come clean on exactly who they are to the rest of the forum (and FWIW I do know who he is, no matter the denials) when he throws bombs at some of us constantly, then it's easy to spot the malign actor in the bunch. I'm compelled to remind folks this poster has threatened to doxx his own (former?) USCHO friends/contacts on contents of their old DM messages to "prove" they disagreed with me (Imagine that; shocking, eh?). Sociopath much?!?

So, to the extent that I'm entangled in some of these "discussions" that many on here find distracting and/or distasteful, I do wish that weren't the case, but it can be hard to disengage, and I'm not going to give that sociopath the satisfaction. Our hero apparently thinks folks are taking unfair shots at the UNH Men's Hockey head coach and/or his boss, or other folks in that universe (all of whom are public figures), for whom job criticism absolutely comes with the territory. Again ... it's not just that we disagree on these things, but whether the disagreement and interactions are in good faith. With one (1) person, it clearly isn't.

I hope norbie, Emily and others don't shy away, but I respect any decisions to do so. It's a shame that one person can ruin things for so many others on here.

Norbert actually deleted his post where he said he wished I’d die. That pretty much sums up Norbert. A very sick sick man. Thank goodness he’s elected to stop posting. Getting rid of the posters that torment the UNH hockey players, coaches, black UNH coaches and wish death on posters only makes this Board better.

Good riddance!
Have you no sense of decency, sir????

I know that you will enjoy the FF in Lost Wages, HockeyRef.

I had a longtime colleague and friend who invited me to join the Hockey-L list serve before this USCHO Fan Forum became a thing. A sub-group from Hockey-L always attended the FF regardless the teams there each year and organized a supper somewhere near the arena on the Friday night between game days. It was so much fun to meet these Hockey-L folks from multiple institutions all around the country wearing their school’s jerseys and whose emails I had been reading and to which I had been responding over the previous year.

Then one of the Hockey-L folks, our own Greg Ambrose, talked me into joining this Forum at the Buffalo FF in 2003. For the most part, I have enjoyed my time here, although not the times when politics have infiltrated our threads. I so wish that politics could be left to USCHO Cafe threads rather than polluting our UNH threads, which I agree are an embarrassment for us, the team, and the school.

Not sure how many college basketball fans there are here. But the game between UConn and Duke today was one for the ages.

Many in my family are followers of UConn basketball. While I don’t feel strongly about them, you can’t ignore the greatness of their coach Dan Hurley. He may be a bit of a polarizing figure, but he absolutely gets the most out of every single one of his teams. He’s always animated, yelling at the refs, his assistants, and his players. He even pumps up the crowd during timeouts to get everyone involved! You know why? Because he absolutely demands greatness.

He is in his 8th year at UConn, arriving to a program that was once considered a “blue blood”, but had fallen on tough times (perhaps some could say UNH used to be in a similar echelon in hockey…) since that time he has reached now 3 final fours and brought home 2 championships in the last 3 years. There is now no debate on if UConn is a blue blood. Especially after defeating the definition of basketball blue blood after being down 19.

This compares to Souza, who never seems very animated, never tries to pump up the crowd, and sees diminishing development from his established players year over year. I just don’t get the “run through a brick wall” mentality with Souza. Heck I was watching Hurley today and I couldn’t help but cheer for UConn.

If Souza could just channel 5% of this, we would be in such a better place. I understand it may not be in his comfort zone, but I’m a firm believer sometimes you have to exit your comfort zone in order to grow.

If he was watching that game tonight, I hope he took notes…

Also, on a UNH athletics note, I also heard from a separate source that the AD is likely out at years end. Not sure where my source got their information, and if it’s the same as others have spoken here, but figured I’d post what I heard.

We will see if it comes to fruition or not.

I always find this to be an interesting discussion. There have been many animated college hockey coaches and most can get hot during games. However, arguably the best current college hockey coach is David Carle and he is generally reserved and cerebral.

Even today during the DU vs WMU game Pat Ferschwieler was more reserved, still intense and very controlled on the bench. They had a quote from him today "Nerves are for the unprepared".

Both Carle and Ferschwieler are clearly detailed and demanding. Yet they aren't the animated style you are noting, which was the style of Parker and Walsh and pre heart attack Umile.

Both styles can be successful. Everything else the coach brings to the table is very important. Unfortunately, results on the ice says Souza has none of the necessary "IT".

Posters wishing death upon one another? Sheesh.
Norbert. Incredible, huh? But he's gone now. He harassed the players and coaches. Troubled guy.

There's a few more that said they are quitting posting, which is good. Took some time but I'm getting some of the more troubled people off this Board.

This will be a really positive place when a few more call it quits.
