I've known that person longer....

And it is good that it sounds like the Trustees are asking questions about the athletic department sliding in to the abyss.

We should make sure there is awareness of WMU having less money, older arena, higher travel costs in NCHC and strength and conditioning 3 miles away... Yet still somehow have been to 6 of 10 NCAAs with a title.... Ideal to under invest, no and at the same time screw the excuses for the crap coaching.

Really? This by 1 or 2 years? This sounds like you need to send me a check or be on the board....

Reactions: JB
Maybe it's time to move the emerging story about a department-wide review and the AD's future over here, seems more offseason than unfinished business ...
Yale job might be open soon

Sorry norbie ... potty has been on the line with his politician pal(s?) trying to figure out what they haven't told him ... and after all that charity for the U ... 😂

If she can't have Princeton (yet?), Yale would seem to be a suitable Ivy soft landing spot for our lame duck AD. Here's to hoping, Felgie!! (y)

Elwood:

You mean the people in charge of UNH are taking a look at a systemic problem in the athletic department that may be the cause of the poor performance of the entire department?

This can’t be true! I was told many, many times by you, Buford, Meathead, Dan and TheDumbCat that the problem with UNH hockey is Souza. Bad coaching. Nothing more. You folks need to tell the Trustees to stop wasting their time, just replace Souza and everything will be ok!

lol

Has it occurred to you numb-nuts that maybe a string of catastrophic hires and extensions by the current AD - including MS7 himself - have brought light to the larger departmental situation?!? If you somehow see this as absolution for your fluffered friend ... my goodness, you are even dopier than I'd ever imagined lol 😂 😂 😂 😂

Not sure if it’s a harbinger for things to come, but the women’s portal opened on Monday, and as of right now I’m only seeing one skater from UNH.

Their portal is open until 04/06, so there’s still time for more people to bolt. The women’s team also pretty clearly had a better year than the men (not a super high bar to clear) so maybe some see promise in staying.

The mens portal opens 4/13 - only a few grad transfers in their now. I’ll be curious if more comes out about the AD before then…

Oh, now it's a "string of catastrophic hires"? It's not losing one of the best soccer coaches (and and Oyster River grad) in the country due to low pay and a damn good football coach (and an alum) to an Ivy league school over low pay. But now you claim the new football coach is a catastrophic hire before he even coaches a game? We already know you hate the men's basketball coach because he's black. You went all MAGA - HIllbilly on him from the moment he was hired and replaced a white coach with a 42% career win percentage at UNH after 18 years on the job.

I suggest you trim your bowl cut hair, brush your tooth, wash your undies in your kitchen sink and immediately head to Durham. Please barge into the next meeting of the Trustees and yell "Everything is MIke Souza's fault!!!!!!!!"

The Ethics
There's three reasons a team wouldn't resort to tampering:

their own ethics
they don't need to (the program is doing a great job already)
they are not in position to (smaller schools)
or some combination of those.

Many coaches still insist that you don't need to be flouting the rules in order to remain competitive.

"I think you always have a choice. You can always be ethical about what you do," New Hampshire coach Mike Souza said.

"After Western Michigan won the national title in 2025, coach Pat Ferschweiler told ESPN the Broncos would "probably be the last major-sport team to win a national championship with zero NIL dollars," adding that the school would be investing some for the 2025-26 team. The Broncos are back in this year's NCAA field as a No. 1 seed."

Elwood: LIke Buford, you are so very New Hampshire. Always years behind (ie. "our way of life" LOL). You silly fools think all UNH needs is Norman Dale to coach and motivate little Hickory to the state championship. You are an anachronism.

College hockey is getting very sophisticated and the present and future is about money. Facilities, NIL. Coaches talk to agents more than players. Agents aren't interested in Norman Dale. They are interested in the full menu. NIL, facilities, coaching , pedigree of teammates, NHL pedigree.....

UNH shouldn't simply replace Mike Souza. UNH must innovate and decide what it will do to compete in HE for the next 10 years. Souza is pretty irrelevant in the big picture.

Innovate or Die.

I've alluded to this several times in the other thread recently but UNH fans should not want Mike Souza fired while Allison Rich is the AD. She, having extended him the last time, is not the right person to make a decision about the next steps for the program. Need fresh energy and a new outlook, no one who's been associated with the recent of the run of the team should be involved.

OOOOOOWEEEEE!!! Lookin' like someone misplaced their Preparation H today!!:p:rolleyes: Hey, how are them stand-up desk contraptions anyways? I mean, you can't type all of that bullshee-it sitting down with your a-hole burning, right????:p

Charlie Murray may be a long-winded blowhard, but he ain't no racist!!!! And git your facts straight, my libturd son....Hubbard left for the prestge of coaching in the ACC and for a salary just a smidge higher than what he was earning in Durham. AD Sugarbritches dropped the damn ball by choosing not to negotiate to keep him here!

Now go out and fetch me my beer ya whiny pissant!!!!! AND STAY THE HELL OFF OF MY LAWN!!!!!:mad:

Relieving MS7 will not solve all the problems, not even close. But, what it does do is signal that UNH recognizes that there is a problem, is taking the appropriate first steps to address these problems and has a clear pathway to right the ship towards national relevance and competitiveness.

Recruits, advisors, parents will notice.

The biggest criticism of MS7 that most of us have is that he isn't developing or maximizing the talent he does have. Cy cratered after his sophomore year. Devlin never lived up to expectations. Neither did Cronin or Cafarelli, who both come into the program with expectations.

His best recruits in recent years have left because they were either underutilized or improperly managed. While Conmy left primarily for $$$, Sidarian and Muzelik blossomed once they left Durham.

Why?

Don't tell me it was the locker room. Or, size of the ice. Or the weight room, etc. et al

UNH shouldn't simply replace Mike Souza.

I have never said UNH should only replace Mike Souza. NOT ONCE. I have repeatedly said:
1) UNH should be investing more in hockey
2) UNH should be better than they are with the current level of investment - see WMU from 2020-2025 (pre NIL)
3) you don't get the additional investment with a losing team - the winning even just the progression from 10th every year to 4-7th for a couple years starts first
4) you can give Souza EVERYTHING and this team will suck, he is not the coach to get you anywhere else - otherwise we would have seen some evidence of that
5) "Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f**k the prom queen" John Mason - we have Souza and the Souza Excuse Crew constantly whining about doing the best with what they have mean while Pat Ferschweiler with less went to 4 straight NCAAs and won a National Title
6) considering points 1-5 the first step is a new coach - maybe you get a Pat Ferschweiler type and start the climb

UNH must innovate and decide what it will do to compete in HE for the next 10 years. Souza is pretty irrelevant in the big picture.

Innovate or Die.

As a guy with over a dozen patents, I 100% agree innovate or die. Souza might be a nice guy and yet he isn't a innovator, he isn't a winner, he is a whiner who avoids accountability. It is never what can I do with what I have, it is always victim thinking the rink is too big.

Souza is pretty irrelevant in the big picture.

This says it all. Honestly probably get a 10th place team if you simply replace Souza with a bag of pucks.
