UNH at BU - HE Quarterfinal Game 3

Re: UNH at BU - HE Quarterfinal Game 3

Whatever the outcome, surely this is destined to become one of the all-time classic UNH-BU tilts. Great up-and-down action. With fatigue setting in, leading to the inevitable mistake, I have a gut feeling the 2nd OT won't run too long.

C'mon. It's out turn to score. We let you get 3 in a row.

Re: UNH at BU - HE Quarterfinal Game 3

Just a wild stab in the dark. Against PC about 5 years ago to win the HE quarterfinal?

Nope, that was game 2, and we'd won game 1. I remember that game VERY well...PC's goalie had a weird nervous tic where he twitched a lot. Naturally, we made fun of that mercilessly.

Works OK for me, Dean. The only one I could remember off the top of my head was a semi-final in an extremely loud Boston Gah-den way back in '77.

How's this for a score: UNH 10 Cornell 9 2OT

BU and Cornell women went into at least the third OT tied 7-7 yesterday. Don't see a lot of 10-9 games anymore at any level. Probably has something to do with the Michelin tire mascots in net.

Re: UNH at BU - HE Quarterfinal Game 3

2008 HE semifinal 3OT
BC 5 --UNH 4

2007 HE semifinal 2OT
UNH 3 -- UMASS 2

Had an at-large bid in 2008 (we were actually the #1 seed in the west bracket, lost to Notre Dame)

Were an at-large in 2007, once again lost as the #1 seed to Miami (OH)

I was at that game as well.

But in what, 2003? at the Gahden against BU in the HE championship (I dunno, the years all blur, not to mention the players) I think it was Preston Callendar who was given credit for a goal which was accidentally scored by Ray Whitney, IIRC, who put it in his own net in double OT.

K, no more talking to your brother. Why are you even sitting with him. Tell him to go home, or you go home, whatever, one of you go home. Just no talking to one another. After the game fine, but until then no talking.

And don't even think. No thinking!

I'm too tired to have contemplated go home for the rest of the year.

Re: UNH at BU - HE Quarterfinal Game 3

Second OT period underway. Commence holding breath.

Pete Webster wants a hi def screen for the Whitt. How about a screen, any def will do.

That might be right -- I think I may have been overseas then.

#17 basically defense-minded Bobby Gould with the winner in the '77 one. Blast on the full fly breaking in from the point.

And you'll remember the one that won our only Hockey East Championship in '79. #17 with the game winner at 17:17 of the third...
