Ill give credit where it is due that was a masterful performance last night. Let's see what happens tonight, a sweep and UNH may extend Souza at that rate. How's "your crow" taste for breakfast, d-bag?
Missed the game yeaterday. From scouting the box score it looked like a competitive loss. That first line of Guite-Ring-Johnson looks like it’s gonna be a problem for HockeyEast all year!
Guite in particular has been super impressive as a freshman. I don’t know if this is way out in left field but I’m getting early Conmy vibes from him (at least with respect to scoring ability). Hopefully he can keep it up!
All in all - they came away with a 2-2 score vs. the #2 team in the country. Very impressive to say the least.
12 big HockeyEast points the next 2 weekends against (presumed) lower tier teams. If we can get 9+ points over the next 2 weekends I think we will be in good shape prior to the RPI/Union weekend.
To be honest I expect most of us were expecting at least one blowout. I was thinking it would be yesterday, especially with the UNH win on Friday.Wondered where you were with a synopsis of the game/weekend. Thought both teams were abit fatigued as they slugged it out all night. Lots of SOG's which Im sure Snively65 was thrilled about and we did win more at the dot which I was surprised about.
Things we discovered this weekend:
-Simpson is the guy and had a great weekend...giving credit to the defense which played out of their minds.
-Guite...is he the sniper we have been waiting for? Conmy vibes...maybe. Dynamic player? Yes.
-Still gotta out the puck in the net but I liked our roll out of 4 capable lines.
-Nick Ring plays Warrior Hockey in my book...
-UNH played 2 games of intense effort and cohesiveness. Hit hard and hit often. We dont see that consistently and if they can build on this weekend?
Hate to admit I expected at least 1 blow out for MSU and it didnt happen. Im reading they played badly this weekend but they lucked out if you ask me. Of course I have my blue colored glasses on.
Onto UVM and this will be the first time in awhile that I'm going for both games. Don't let me down 'Cats!![]()
Agree the Gutt has presented challenges and its one game at a time up there. Would have to look but in my now 13?? years of following I dont believe they have swept up there. We really need those HE points...To be honest I expect most of us were expecting at least one blowout. I was thinking it would be yesterday, especially with the UNH win on Friday.
In past years when UNH got an upset (especially the first night of a two game weekend) the other team comes out on fire the second night and gets out to an early lead. UNH then withers and fails to generate much offense, leading to the blowout.
This weekend provides me a bit more confidence as the performance both nights promotes some sustainability. I don’t know if that is due to better conditioning, better playmakers, or a combination of both. Again, perhaps MSU just had an off weekend, but we need more evidence to prove that was the case.
Moving forward we will need to score more than 1 goal per game. And also get more scoring from different lines. I partially attribute that to going against one of the top goalies in the country (1st rounder to boot). That won’t be the case every weekend.
Looking forward to next weekend vs. UVM. The Gutt is a tough place to play, but if they bring the same intensity as they did this weekend, I think they will come out on to
Fingers crossed, but if they can continue to play this kind of hockey, we could have a fun season on our hands for a change.Fun game to watch. Real hockey. Best UNH team we've seen in a while.
Any of these announcements that are attached to sponsors (i.e. "Your Effingwoods Country Store Shots on Goal after 2 periods ... ") are always gonna get forced into the mix, often at inopportune times. Totally agree with a "Play of the Game" at the 10 minutes left juncture of a one goal game is ridiculous. But someone is paying for that time, and the bills gotta get paid, so there you go. Fine tuning shouldn't be too difficult ... but it's been so long since UNH Hockey has been relevant as a "flagship" not only for the school but for the larger region/state, and a lot of familiar old (and more experienced) subject matter expertise has been lost along the way. Some of this stuff is low hanging fruit; if the coach can't be bothered, the new AD certainly can. I'm sure the previous AD would've simply found it compliant and moved on ...Couple things tho...
What is with announcing the "play of the game" with 10 minutes remaining and a 2-1 score? A true WTF moment!
And - correct me if I'm wrong - but another WTF moment happened every time they announced "shots on goal" between periods. Pretty sure the idiots were ACTUALLY announcing "shots attempted".
Pathetic production. Get somebody in the booth who actually knows the game...even a little...
l’ll take Champions of any month at this pointFingers crossed, but if they can continue to play this kind of hockey, we could have a fun season on our hands for a change.

As potty2.0 points out, if nothing else, this is a nice return to "Champions of October" days. The level of talent on hand looks significantly improved, and that's half the battle. Now we just need the coaching to organize and channel things in a productive way, and to make positive and effective adjustments along the way.
So far, so good ... but a long way still to go. Shout out to Snives, who I know is out there and watching, hoping for the best like we all are ...
