UNH 2026-27 Season Let's Go 'Cats!

Of course we arent pkaying tomorrowSimpson left out to dry AGAIN following another turnover; 4-0 early. lol, UNH looks awful right now...
Awful is one way to put it...hey the SOG's are even! Where's Snively he would be proud.
Let's see if we can adapt in the 2nd
2 years ago when we were here for a double header I remember getting killed the1st game then winning the 2nd.. Of course we aren't playing tomorrow maybe a good thing?

Just an abysmal period.

Around halfway through the period, DeHaro took a puck back into his end and hoped to play a puck across to his defensive partner. In doing so, he spun around and whipped a wristshot neck-high toward Fitzgerald. That sums up very well how UNH handled the puck in the first. And they certainly didn't bother to do much defending after such mistakes. The four QU goals were probably scored from a COMBINED seven or eight feet off the goal line...

Here's your first period +/-
Fitzgerald -2
Gagnon -2
Johnson -2
Ring -2
Vass -2
Von Richter -2
DeHaro -1
Hyles -1
Lavins -1
MacDonald -1
Newcombe -1
Philbrick -1
Svartstrom -1
Zebeski -1

--

Offensively, Zebeski skated hard and got to the net a couple of times. Svartstrom was on top of the crease once and took a pass into the shins. Ring made a rush with no one around for a pass. That was it. Not enough talent to spread them around for four balanced lines. Put your (best) skill players together. Set roles for the rest of the lines. Not a fan of the line-up or the PP units we've started with...

Can only go up from here… QU is clearly a good team and they mentioned 9 of their 10 top scorers returned from last year.

Nevertheless, this is really showing the gap between UNH and the cream of the crop in college hockey.

I agree with others sentiments Souza should bunch talent on one or two lines to maximize scoring chances. Yes they can’t be on the ice all the time but the “spread the wealth” structure will make it difficult to create scoring opportunities when UNH falls behind.

Zebeski gets one back, 5-1.

Simpson had previously made two stops to keep the margin at five. One on a breakaway and one with a Bobcat player flying down the slot unmarked. Quinnipiac is good, but with any sort of defensive coverage in the crease/slot this is a 2-1 or 3-1 game...

Congrats to Zebeski on his first collegiate goal - and for getting the monkey off the back for his team.

Zebeski had a good shift in the 1st period as well, almost leading to a goal. It will be interesting to see which freshmen start to show they deserve to be in the lineup every game.

Yup if we can just avoid 2 years ago 8-2 loss here (won the next game 3-2) but no revenge nite this season...if that would be even possible.
Time to pull Simpson...?
