UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

If UNH hockey disappeared few people in Concord would care. There's a nice narrative that could be sold to the public that the state simply is cutting back and club hockey makes more sense. Of course, a narrative could also be sold that college hockey is New Hampshire's flagship sport and it's imporant to compete and that a $100 million new facility makes a ton of sense because it will not only host sell out hockey games, it will create good constructions jobs and also 40 - 50 other consumer events per year such a concerts, etc... that will offset revenue.

Government money is being thrown around ALL time time. The special interest group works with the the politicians to create a narrative. Most importantly, the special interest group and the pol have an understanding how the deal will help pols in Concord.
Pot Scrubber,

You're not wrong. Simply put, the fans care about UNH Hockey. The powers that be, don't.

You're thinking like a private businessman. Government is the opposite. There is no profit motive. Just look at our national debt. Government is all about meeting legal requirements re: spending and then distributing the rest of the money to those best positioned to help the ways and means politicians politically. Nobody in Concord has any interest in season tix, etc..

Classic example. UMass football. It went from DIAA to D1A in 2012 when there was no public demand for it. Why? It was a huge increase in expenses without evidence that revenues would follow. UMass chancellor said it would increase UMass image nationally. Silly. No facilities, infrastructure or consumer demand. Interesting that Bob Kraft was a benificiary (or thought he was) by having Gillette as UMass "home field". That's how boondoggles like UMass football happen. That's government. A small group of influential people wanted it done and it happened. They create a narrative when questions get asked. That's government. The money is always there, the key is who gets to decide where it goes.
Jesus you bring a new level of stupid every time you active your UNH keyboard.

I will educate you Corky so you can google and read more.

The US government is a non factor , they can and do print money to cover bills. UNH can’t Not for -profits are different. While they pay taxes on income to some extent, all businesses need to make a profit.

Hospitals are usually 501c3 but still need to profit in the black for growth. Many pay a PILOT.

Go away

Norbert: try not to seem smart or informed because the strain could cause you to pass out. Your lack of understanding about state government is lol.

Potluck,

Any update on your meetings with Kels and Sherm?

Doesn't seem like a fit for either team at this point (he will be a Sr). Hoping MS7 is in discussions with kids in the portal. As it stands, only UNH and UCONN from HE haven't committed to a transfer.
A'lot of teams grab players for one year and Rickwood would fill a need for UNH another top 6 forward. His sister played for the women's team for five years but I guess the legacy curse continues.

Why isn't this a live, in person event for the sole purpose of raising funds? Dinner. Drinks. Bad jokes. Alumni. Autographs.

Normally, I'd say that it's a lost opportunity but let's be real, UNH is probably worried that only 13 people would attend and would be nothing more than a sunk cost, leaving egg of the faces of MS7 and our AD fka SB.

Curious though, will Blue Skies be making a very special guest appearance on this virtual event?

If MS7 has any shot at all, get the kid. Figure it out later. Beggars can't be choosers...
So it looks like more of the same as far as the portal goes..Who's left. Alex Zetterburg from BU should be a top priority but don't hold your breath. Rickwood has been mentioned, Giampa is gone to Miami. Then you have Werner from Michigan. They could use another D-men also. I wish Souza could pick up an impact player that would make us all happy. I was looking for something bold and different but that's probably not happening.

This isn't the Sears Wish Book.

MS7 and us fans can pine for these players all summer, but that doesn't mean UNH and Souza can spin a compelling story to actually land talent. These kids are connected. It isn't 1996. They have access to information. They're going to ask why Hellsten, Sardarian and Conmy left a program with such a "bright future".

Hard to truth to swallow, how many current players came to UNH because they didn't have any other options?

This is back to where the coach needs to go. Any new coach's message is change, we are changing how we do things to rebuild this great program. That change energy can be compelling to the right players, and the players that want to drive change are the ones UNH wants and needs right now. It also is an escape from the questions about past players leaving, etc.

Hard to sell a UNH program with a moribund coaching staff, zero fundraising ability and a state government looking to cut school funding. Commitment comes from the top down. The state isn’t committed to higher education.

Still waiting on your update on lobbying Kels and Sherm. Since you have expressed how easy it is to get funding from politicians. Should be easier still for you since they are just a bunch of hick farmers anyway.
