UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

Norbert: You have NO sources. Nobody speaks to you in confidence. You're just a loser that uses social media to appear relevant. You're the guy people roll their eyes at when he turns his back.

I say this because all the kids that play college hockey are amateurs. Their families and friends attend the games and read this site. For you to impugn the character of a young man that simply plays hockey for a college team without evidence is disgusting.
Potpourri

Networks are funny things. Some people you expect to be a part of them, others come as a complete surprise and are hardly expected...but welcomed.

There is a lot of institutional knowledge on this thread compiled from long term posters from public and non public sources. Over the decades, and especially in the pre internet and cell phone era, many stories never made the papers but certainly circulated amongst those close to the program.

As for amateur status. Historically, you're correct. However, based on the outcome of the House v. NCAA settlement, college hockey players will be a part of the revenue sharing pool beginning in the 25-26 season. While the amount will vary by school, the average player is projected to receive $20,475 annually.

Revenue sharing. Scholarships. Preferred financial aid. Preferred housing and parking. Athletes only programing, tutoring, post school career counseling.

Amateurs, indeed.

Thanks for making a great point. Even without NIL money these scholarships are - significant amounts of money for these players. Now add in the other aspects. Conmy’s $25 or $50k isn’t chump change for playing hockey.

So I see the other kid from RIT is going to Northeastern. I guess Souza thinks he can win with what he has coming in?. It seems Norbert was right, UNH just isn't a destination for anybody in the portal at this point..sad. My advice Mikey get on a plane and retrieve 2-3 more overage CHL players.
You assume UNH has the budget and motivation to do so.

Hardly an expert. TBH, the silence in Durham has been deafening since the end of the season.

Either the school is planning to make a big splash (doubtful) or it's more the of the same.
Fair enough. Hopefully Souza's been promoting the 4 new Canadian players to recruits and telling them their on the right track. But I will also go with more of the same.

The summer BBQ should be interesting. It always feels like a haphazardly planned event, a duty call mandated by the powers that be to check the box by engaging with the STH.

For the third summer in a row, I'm sure that we'll hear how important the upgrades are and that fundraising is ongoing but no tangible milestones will be disclosed. Mike Hickey will pontificate about the need to support MS7 and to donate generously facilitate a return to our former glories. He will wax poetic about the herculean efforts of Souza to right the ship whilst chosing to ignore the fact that the STHs have politely turned him out to pick at the charbroiled and inedible burgers shuttled from Stillings Hall.

MS7 himself will mumble through 72 seconds at the dais before escaping through the back staircase to avoid the calls for his firing and a hastened return to Wakefield.

And, despite all of this, no fan will walk out of the Whit any wiser about the state of the upgrades, know what players will actually be playing on the team in 25-26 or if there is an actual plan to right the ship.

I too agree that the off season silence (with the exception of the quiet door closing of RC's departure) is due to total inactivity, there is one unlikely possibility to consider.

There has been a lot of reporting about the hesitancy of CHL players to announce their NCAA commitments for fear of retribution by their current teams this season, as there is no existing culture there for NCAA commitments in those organizations and how to handle them. There is an expectation that as CHL seasons wrap that a wave of commitments will be announced, I don't expect any will be headed to Durham but if I can channel @Jellsville USA "Forever Optimistic" attitude for a moment, maybe a couple are.

We can hope.

Take a stand, United. Show them who the real bosses are, the STH.

Fire those crappy burgers at MS7 when he is at the podium.

You WILL get the AD’s attention. Just remember, the customer is always right.

Funny she ignored the many fans that asked for a change last time around so I'm doubting any change is going to happen. Ever.

Well, I understand your doubt. However, you will never know if my idea won’t work until you try.

I just don’t want you to look back one day years from now and ponder “I wonder what might have happened if I had just chucked that overdone puck of a hamburger at Souza like that intelligent-good-looking Sparkee said?”.

I've taken a road trip to the U. of Michigan for the Ice Breaker and to the Upper Peninsula to visit Lake State, but never to Michigan State. I'd love to make the trip if this team were even remotely competitive.
UNH was very, very remotely competitive last season. So book your tickets!
