PotpourriNorbert: You have NO sources. Nobody speaks to you in confidence. You're just a loser that uses social media to appear relevant. You're the guy people roll their eyes at when he turns his back.
I say this because all the kids that play college hockey are amateurs. Their families and friends attend the games and read this site. For you to impugn the character of a young man that simply plays hockey for a college team without evidence is disgusting.
Networks are funny things. Some people you expect to be a part of them, others come as a complete surprise and are hardly expected...but welcomed.
There is a lot of institutional knowledge on this thread compiled from long term posters from public and non public sources. Over the decades, and especially in the pre internet and cell phone era, many stories never made the papers but certainly circulated amongst those close to the program.
As for amateur status. Historically, you're correct. However, based on the outcome of the House v. NCAA settlement, college hockey players will be a part of the revenue sharing pool beginning in the 25-26 season. While the amount will vary by school, the average player is projected to receive $20,475 annually.
Revenue sharing. Scholarships. Preferred financial aid. Preferred housing and parking. Athletes only programing, tutoring, post school career counseling.
Amateurs, indeed.
