UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

Stonehill is planning a $65 million new on campus hockey and basketball facility. An alum is contributing $15 million for naming. I called Stonehill this morning to tell them to save the money and just fire the coaches of both teams because "throwing money at the problem" never does a thing. They said they'll risk it and spend the dough. Oddly, they also chuckled and asked if I was from New Hampshire.

Oh, well.

Maybe Stonehill will join HEA and their fans will start a thread on this forum?

Ruth White finished 6th in 10,000 which qualified her for the Nationals in Eugene Oregon. Amazing runner, all 4 ft 8 inches of her. She is one tough young lady.
She really is an amazing athlete! A great find for UNH, even if we stole her from Orono ;)

She was committed to Idaho I think? and the coach left so she transferred to UNH. I think she wanted out of Orono after being born and raised there :) . I went to school with her Aunts, I think her Father was many years behind me in School. And her grand father was a Principal at Orono elementary school along with owning a hardware store in town. Nice family and she really is a special athlete. I think US Olympic team is not out the question

UNH picks up a new Defense men. Oscar Plandowski from the University of New Brunswick played four years in the Q. 2021 5th rd draft pick of Detroit Red wings. A good pickup and will stabilize a inexperienced defense.

Here's some info on him in 2021.He chains mohawks into pivots, into crossovers, into absorbing contact...He can pretty much do all the skating moves you want. The handling and shooting skills are there, too. Hands away from body, steps into the pucks...He’s elusive. -EliteProspects 2021 NHL Draft Guide So that's 15 new recruits coming in and 13 on the current roster. With a 26 roster limit UNH are two players over the limit.

Loving this rebuild!!!

Some info on Plandowski. His mother was a competitive figure skater, and teach power skating for hockey players. https://thecoachessitelive.com/jill...qdNlTDuPjimhMzxe6LMDgjPw8U2cdX1PZGDJTsiqgg0YJ

His father played at Northern Michigan and was in scouting for 30 years and is on the Stanley cup when Tampa won in 2017. The thing that stood out to me is his fluid skating and ability to lug pucks out of his zone through traffic to gain the offensive zone.

Oscar Plandowski(Moncton(QMJHL)), 5/18/03, 2nd RD, 6’ 190 lbs, NZ 4.0, strong puck moving skills, smart passing decisions, exceptionally smooth skating, Poise with the puck, headsy plays with puck, Plays all situations, rarely out of position, plays physical and keeps tight gaps, puck lugger, rugged in front of his own net

Exceptional skating, fluid: https://youtu.be/O1WSPmDeiP8?si=n421Px--zd_4yEkp

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe a judge has delayed the implementation of NCAA roster limits. And even if implemented, UNH would need to opt in to the revenue sharing/roster limits agreement. I have not heard word on their plans either way…

So, I think this 28 could be the Wildcats final roster for 2025-26, though a Bradshaw deferral wouldn’t surprise me. I’d like to see DeHaro come and compete for playing time on the blue line…

DeAngelis, Carr, Conn, Plandowski and Fitzgerald are a pretty interesting group of five - though they are nearly entirely unproven. Player and DeHaro are both certainly capable of making impacts. I’m less sold on Philbrick (we’ll see) and Hahn is likely not a factor…

No one can make the argument that UNH coaches didn’t work hard this Spring/early Summer. At one time I urged them to seek out two more impact forwards, an impact defenseman and an impact goalie. They ended up with two more forwards (5 CHLers/transfers total), an extra defenseman (3 CHLers total) and TWO new goalies!

So the question remains: How will CHL players and CHL production translate to NCAA Hockey?

If the answer is positive, and UNH’s CHLers are better than other team’s CHLers, this could be a very interesting year for UNH Hockey! The range of outcomes is wide, but there is certainly a curiosity and an excitement heading into October.

Plandowski is someone who DRW drafted late (5th round) in 2021, actually their second pick in the 5th round, he's not NHL big, and I can't remember the last time I saw any reference to him and progress in an already-deep Red Wings' pipeline for defensemen. Wings had already selected Simon Edvinsson early in the first round, and he's starting to make his mark at the NHL level. Shai Buium (the elder of the two Denver Buiums, DRW 2nd round pick that season) is stuck at the AHL level, could be trade bait with his younger bro already jumping right into the Wild's lineup. So good news, our 22 year old freshman, with elite skating skills/genes, may be one of those elusive four-year players, unless his one year of Canadian college hockey knocks that down to three years?

Dan, you're starting to convince me that *maybe* just maybe, MS7 has finally settled on a new recruiting strategy that may bear fruit. As you've noted, there are two big questions out there in this upcoming transition season, how will CHL fare in NCAA, and are our CHL'ers better than other teams' CHL'ers? Another question left unstated though is, will our CHL'ers receive better coaching than those other CHL'ers?? To the extent that many of these CHL guys will be more developed as a result of their ages and experiences at higher Junior levels than traditional NCAA recruits ... perhaps that potential weakness will be mitigated?

Should make for an interesting season ... starting to have that annual debate with myself on whether to jump back in on season tix after a 30+ year hiatus ...

Your right Dan. A California judge go figure.:ROFLMAO: has put it on hold and their still changing a few things including a grandfather clause if the team want's to carry 28. In the end most think the 26 team limit will go into effect sooner then later.

When you called did you say "Hi I am an asshole" or some other MS7 name?
