UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

The idea that the NH Seacoast Region depends on your blight of a socialist state for its wealth is likewise laughable. If that were true, Cheshire County (which has the longest shared border of MA/NH) would be above and beyond our area. It isn't though.
Chuck you're an intelligent guy, you must be aware that >100k folks commute from NH to MA daily for work. NH, while a better state in most measurable ways, is deeply dependent on MA for economic survival.

Cheshire County's blight is due to it's proximity to the interstate highway system, but I suspect you knew that.

Not sure how you attributed Potluck’s post to me when it was his?

In any case, kid’s hockey always has been pricey for parents, between monetary costs for equipment and time costs for early morning rides for ice time, even in Durham where I grew up, hence I played basketball instead while attending UNH games at the old outdoor Batchelder Rink, which had a footprint subsumed by Snively Arena. Fun story, a childhood friend dared his younger sister to lick the steel fence, which immediately froze her tongue to the metal. Ouch! None other than Whoop Snively came to her rescue with a hot cup of tea to unfreeze her tongue.
Fat fingers while typing on the phone and not the keyboard. A pox upon me, dear sir.

I know this season's carcass is still stinking up the place but it feels like its time for a way-too-early look at next season's lineup and make some predictions.

I think things will look something like this. Team finishes right where they did this year in HEA with a few less OOC wins. Outlook very dependent on Canadian juniors commits enrolling and contributing.

While it's far too early to entertain line pairings and speculate on next year's team, especially in light of potential transfer activity, the fact you suggest Lavins is a fourth line player is laughable.

I never said that the increase in student athletic fees was jammed down their throats in 1995. My point was why should students pay even more athletic fees now to upgrade locker rooms for the hockey team when there is nothing in it for them like there was when they got new facilities in the rehabbed Snively in 1995.
My reply was not aimed at you. Aimed at Mr. Clueless, Potluck who says it is easy to get more money for Athletics - just gate the state to give it to you, just raise tuition, just raise the athletic fee.

Make other people pay. So so simple...

Lavins style much better suited as a 3rd/4th line fit. He is not much of a scorer / playmaker and produced very little when elevated late in the season. In any other program he lives on the lower two lines, as his numbers suggest. My putting him on the 4th line is not a knock on him.

Mike McMahon writes the Dick Umile will be honored as one of Hobey Baker's Legends of College Hockey this summer at their event in St. Paul...congratulations!

I disagree on so many levels. He opens up the ice and creates space through his physical play, elevating those around him to take advantage of the passing lanes and screens. There is more to his game than the stats suggest.

When I speak with coaches and former professional players, more often than not they rave about Lavins and how he's a true pro prospect with a higher professional ceiling than Conmy. Coaches always share a variation of this comment, "Marty is a pest and arguably the best two way player that UNH has. I'd love to have him on my team and would hate to play against him. He's an underrated and overlooked player that any championship team would love to have."

Regardless of where Marty Lavins plays I just hope he continues to play for us! I think he works harder than anyone on the ice more often than not. Was my vote
for the 'fan favorite'.

I have spoken with many former and current pro players, coaches, scouts, and front office personnel who have said "Marty is a great third or fourth line type player. Great job with your projected lines for next season. It isn't too early to create those projections, either. Love your posts in the forum."

He was my vote as well.

Asked him straight out if he was coming back next year at the STH event and replied with an immediate yes.

Any team would love to have him as he's a catalyst who makes things happen both ways, has an attitude that is infectious and is a royal pain in the ass to the opposing side.

He does the work so that the skill guys score the goals and get the glory. I'd take him over Conmy or Cy to build a team around and make him Captain tomorrow.

He's my vote for the C...
