UNH 2018-19: Souza The Opportunity

Could be they might have to call up a recruit? I mean...we've done that before (Tirone). Heard that Max played a ton of mins last night; he will tonight as well. Heard Hickey held his own for the most part; and, I'll bet it was the fastest game he ever played in! Who else do they have to pull in for dmen? Any one on the bench that can play that position? Injuries are tough...go 'Cats!!

Opposite problem from winter/spring 2003 when we had multiple D-men playing on the fourth line.

As you know both Rich Boyd and Matt Dawson have played forward...I just don't know/think we have a dman in the mix...maybe BvR?

Re: UNH 2018-19: Souza The Opportunity

Ha, ha, BvR must have learned something about the blue line with all those years playing against his middle brother. :-)

I mean...look at the work he's done on the penalty kill...just not sure how serious the other injuries are. I worry about Benton and Matt...but I think by now we'd know if they were season ending injuries.

If they we're to do that they'd have to do so at the semester break - so they next three games would be the challenge if Boyd is out for any real time. And you're likely looking at a F (or Fs) rotating in and playing some D. Someone on the roster must have played D before...

Souza made it sound like Maass could be out for a while but If the prognosis on Boyd or Dawson is shorter term (see return before or by the start of the second half), I'm not sure they'd pull that trigger. But if they did decide to bring a recruit in early it would have to be Lucas Bahn. The only other option would be Nolan McElhaney - but he is injured himself, and has only skated in six games for Omaha...

Bridges are probably burned but with every week that passes this guy looks like the type of puck moving defenseman they could have used last year, this year and moving forward. So disappointing...

15 goals and 39 points in 30 games. Sixth in the entire league in scoring...

UNH has relied so heavily on itts top-four defenseman this season. That will continue just with different names...

Wyse - Gildon
Verrier - MacKinnon

Re: UNH 2018-19: Souza The Opportunity

A group of us had the opportunity this past Wednesday to have dinner with President Dean here in DC, where he shared with us that he will be playing clarinet with the pep band for 8 songs before the game starts tonight. Good to hear he’s attending, and great to see him engaging with students.

Let’s have another 3-point weekend this weekend!!

Way cool, WCDC! I just introduced myself to him. He is having a blast!

Also, I just arrived after a most enjoyable 45 minutes with FS23, his father, and brother at Libby's.

Wyse and Gildon are double shifting, keeping one of them on the ice almost constantly with all the new guys.

Awesome to hear!

And very cool that you hung out with FS23... an all-time Forum all-star

SOG the story in this game right now. Could be very frustrating for the friars if they don't break through !

Re: UNH 2018-19: Souza The Opportunity

Naz always seems to dig the puck out on 1x1 battles!

Re: UNH 2018-19: Souza The Opportunity

Robinson appears to be making a bid for full-time work these past two weekends. I agree with Ray - if he keeps this up, we can effect a rotation on weekends like Dartmouth.
