UND @ SCSU, Two Like-Minded Institutions Battle For All the Nachos

Re: UND @ SCSU, Two Like-Minded Institutions Battle For All the Nachos

Well it's nice to see that a sh!++y Nodak team can still take it to a great st cloud team. Split accomplished... no hope for us tomorrow.

1st goal is on Faragher. He got torched.
2nd goal on nobody. Bertsch coughed up the puck Faragher made a pretty good save. UND was in right spot.
3rd goal Rabey way out of position.
4th goal what in the bejesus is Rabey doing? He gets his stick stuck on rodwells leg even though Rodwell has no play.
5th goal Faragher lost track of the puck, prow should have stopped it.

My conclusion: Rabey and Gravel have size advantage but do nothing with it. I try to keep the faith with Rabey but in clutch spots he screws up. Gravel is less noticeable but he had some crucial plays against WMU and Miami where he could have taken a penalty to save a goal. These guys could afford to take a couple penalties to save a goal. Faragher is nothing special. Last season Jensen made him look good because (as Schlossman said) Nick Jensen was the best player in the WCHA last year. If Faragher doesn't play better we can't make the Frozen Four.

A big dude on St. Cloud doesn't use his size to his advantage? Are you new? That's been their rap for like 15 years. ;)

That 4th goal was awful defense for SCSU, left Gaarder alone in the slot untouched.

Re: UND @ SCSU, Two Like-Minded Institutions Battle For All the Nachos

They showed the fifth goal on the replay and Brodzinski coasted all the way back on the backcheck. If he would have hustled at all he was right there to clear to the puck. Instead he was a step away to help Prow. It was an embarrassing effort but we have done this a few times in the second period this year.
Two of the kickouts by Faragher, while you really can't blame him for the D not tying up people, you also have to try and kick them out to the side or off in the corners and not directly out front.
I really hope Motzko laid into them after the second, but to me they really didn't play with a whole lot of fire in the third either. They had nothing to lose so I was hoping for at least some pride.
I agree on the 4th, a guy out front tapping the stick and no one flattens him or tries to cover him is unexplainable. Thorson had a couple rub outs he neglected to do too. North Dakota took it to us and we had no response. They were on top of us, they backchecked, they hooked , they grabbed , they finished hits behind the play and we just let them. It was embarrassing. We need to get a lot more physical to compete or we are going to get our doors blown off again tonight.

As much as I want to blame Faragher, there ain't much evidence there. I will say that he makes the big save less than any goalie we have had since Boron. But they can't change now. Hope they give Lindgren a shot next year.

Trying to pin the last goal on Brodzinski? Please. At that point in the game I don't blame him for cherry picking and he isn't much of a two way player. My uncle coached him and calls him "Jonny Shooter" because once he gets the puck he ain't passing it.

I know NoDak played the 2nd period (kept hearing Go Sioux Go), but who or should I say what was the other team?:D
