UND @ SCSU - 2/13 - St. Valentine's Day non-Massacre

Re: UND @ SCSU - 2/13 - St. Valentine's Day non-Massacre

Duh, we are all after all fans of our own team. Of course we will whine regardless of whether it is legit or not!

Oh I know, I read it in week in and week out here in the scores thread. However, some people like to place unfair labels on certain fans or fan bases.

Re: UND @ SCSU - 2/13 - St. Valentine's Day non-Massacre

nice logic on the extra 2 min. Marvin dropped the gloves and Lammy dropped the gloves. No contact happened and both were given equal penalties. How you expected anything else is beyond me. It's tough to lose like this, i understand but get over it. They were outplayed and lost. If my team played like this against someone over two games I'd be pleased with 2 pts not upset. St Cloud is fine anyways regardless of tonights results. It's the Sioux that have problems to face regarding WCHA standings and post season implications.

Thanks, I'm glad you see my logic, even if you ignore the fact I got my info from SCSU radio broadcast which would clearly be baised towards SCSU...

Since you clearly where able to see the game while I was not tell me who dropped the gloves first, who started the whole fight/issue? If I'm wrong I'm wrong.

I have never once said during this thread that UND didn't deserve a win or that they didn't out play SCSU this game. I acknowledge that UND was simply the better team.

Of course I'm not pleased with 2 points because one night my team played OK but the other night we were not good while the other team was.

i agree. I try not to do such, but I'm sure there are times when I do.

What don't you get.... The fight didn't happen. Lammy dropped the gloves and helmet and then Marvin dropped the gloves and helmet. Neither touched each other. Two players did the exact same thing. Nobody made either one do what they did thus the penalty is equal. For you to think otherwise is laughable.

On the weekend other than probably the first 8-10 min of the 1st last night, it was tilted UND's way. Motzko saw it that way also. I'm not saying you should be happy but given the play on the weekend its fortunate they got 2pts.

Clearly I feel there should have been an extra penalty on Lammy for starting the whole thing by dropping the gloves and helment first. I'm sure if Marvin had done that you would have cried he should have been given an extra penalty epsically because of his "history."

I'm sorry thats not fair to you. I'm putting thoughts and words into your head/mouth. If Marvin had dropped the gloves first I feel that several UND fans would be screaming about him being a goon and should be thrown from the game. Regardless of a non history of him gooning it up.

I'm glad the officials stopped both of them before things got nasty. Are you saying if they had touched each other that Lammy shouldn't have gotten an extra penalty for starting it? Should Marvin have just stood there and hoped the officials stepped in? Whats your point?

As I have said, I felt that Lammy started it all and should have been given an extra penalty but wasn't. Thats that. I feel losing Marvin for the time SCSU did HURT them more than UND missing Lammy. Maybe thats wrong. Please tell me why thats wrong.

I'm NEVER glad to get 2 points on a weekend. I WANT 4 every weekend. I'm more than willing to say UND played better hockey this weekend than SCSU did. Doesn't mean I'm happy getting 2 points this weekend.

Both players did the same exact thing. Nobody made either player do what they did. I would think the same regardless given neither player had any contact and for that matter anyone that was on the ice at the time. Nice try

Lammy didn't start anything... Nothing happened!!!!! Nobody made Lammy do what he did and nobody made Marvin do what he did. If I slash you, and you slash me back, were going to receive the same penalty. It's not about who did it first if we both did the exact same thing. (and one could clearly make the case Marvin started it all back in Grand Forks regardless of goon or not goon. It's the reality of the incident. )

Again, nobody should be happy with 2pts (unless your name is Craig Dahl). But that's not what I said. What I'm saying is looking back over the weekend and how the play went, I'd be happy with 2pts considering my team was outplayed for the vast majority of it. There is a difference between the two situations.

Nothing happened, yet both Lammy and Marvin got penalties so something must have happened. Even you seem to admit Lammy started "nothing" that lead to matching penalties. Of course I have a problem with that. I'm not saying had Lammy not done that SCSU would have won. Clearly UND was the better team tonight and possible even the better team overall this weekend. they should be upset they only got 2 points out of a very strong SCSU team the way they played.

Stating Marvin started it back in Grand Forks is insane and just justifying players gooning it up on other players because they gooned it up that one time.

Those are seperate games. I maintain my stance that had Marvin dropped the gloves first you would be of a similar opinon that I am that the one that attempted to start a needless and pointless fight should have an extra penalty. You never answered that question.

I guess we are of different views. I never view 2 points as a good thing between equal teams. UND and SCSU are both great teams. I see 2 points as ok but not good. Its disappointing since I always want at least 3 even during down years.

This is pointless. Nothing did happen other than two guys dropped the gloves and helmets. Neither did anything to each other. Nobody touched each other. Thats basically nothing. If you want to believe otherwise, enjoy.

It's no more insane than you saying Lammy should have a xtra penalty for dropping his gloves first  In fact I think it's clearly understandable why someone would want to retaliate for a bad cheap shot that injured a player in the fashion it happened. I'm not saying it should happen but I sure can understand why the players would feel that way.

edit btw, you should use that in court if you ever need to. I know I hurt that guy but I only drove drunk that once. Think that would help? Do you think Chay feels better with that argument? Would the person you hurt feel better knowing it was the first time you drove drunk? It's not about being a goon or not being a goon, it happened and shouldn't have.

I think you can't read because I did and again neither player started a fight so that whole reasoning is kind of pointless isn't it. In reality your arguing both sides... Saying if the Sioux retaliate they are goons but if they instigate they are also goons and deserve extra penalties. Can't have it both ways.

I guess we are of different views. I never view 2 points as a good thing between equal teams. UND and SCSU are both great teams. I see 2 points as ok but not good. Its disappointing since I always want at least 3 even during down years

You seem to have trouble with the concept of looking back vs forward. Looking forward, I'd always want 4 pts. Looking back after the weekend is over can be all together different. It's not a matter of what you want then, it's what you got and what you deserved to get based on performance. Completely different things. Sorry you can't see the difference.

I'm sorry, I was at work and was looking for the SCSU/UND score update thread to see the final score...I must be in the wrong one or reading it wrong because it looks like we won 8-1. No way that can be right. :)

Disclaimer: Not in anyway rubbing the loss in to SCSU fans.
