Thought about starting this last week but now with another win against a ranked team, its clear that UND is all grown-up.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux 2010-11 Season

Sioux women sweep the gophers after winning today 3-1.Man how times have changed since the Lammy twins came to town.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux 2010-11 Season

Fantastic weekend and start to the season for the Sioux. The entire team is playing with a lot of confidence.

This will certainly build on the early season buzz for the program. And while that is a good thing, I hope fans remain patient with the team as the season goes forward. This is still a very short squad, fatigue and injuries are bound to affect them at some point.

I'll tell you who's impressing me a lot more than the miracle twins is Sara Dagenais. She had another two goals today in the...ahem...sweep of the Gophers.

Well, not exactly.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux 2010-11 Season

Congrats to the UND Sioux Women's hockey team and coaches! I must admit I had underestimated them! The whole team is looking to be skating with greater confidence!

Re: Photos from Minnesota series

Congrats to the Sioux for a well deserved sweep on Minnesota's home ice this weekend. Your team played great, and I'm sure it was a real wake-up call for the Gophers! No excuses, but I'm confident the U will regroup and play better once the injuries to key players heal and they are back to full strength.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux 2010-11 Season

I thought Minnesota played a good 2nd period, but beyond that, UND was the better team on the day. With the way tOSU is looking and BSU's win over Mercyhurst, it looks like it's going to be a real battle to find points in the league every weekend. Already looking forward to our trip to the Ralph in February (as opposed to the mid-December time slot we get most years.)

Re: UND Fighting Sioux 2010-11 Season

I think they would have won today, but the new jammies jinxed 'em.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux 2010-11 Season

Has any team played a more difficult early season schedule then UND? I don't think I would have predicted they would be 4&2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

I hate to tell you this, but Feb in Grand Forks can often be just as cold or colder than Dec... :)

My wife is from that area, so I've experienced a wide sampling of its weather. Where February or a blizzard in March or even April can be cold, lately we've gotten mid-December or January time slots where the temps invariably slide below -30 F. And those temps always seem to come with a wind that feels much colder than the -50 temps I had growing up. At least my odds are a little better in February.:)

As a UND alum, surviving those winters in Forks make me appreciate the Minnesota winters...I mean, my car actually starts in the winter now that I'm in the MSP. :D

The wind is what makes it bad up there. No trees haha.... I avoid weekend trips to GF in Dec and Jan. If possible.
