It did say in the article that it was a breath specimen. As far as I'm aware, those are not admissible in court evidence, only blood draw. Perhaps he blew the .12 which gave probable cause to do a blood draw, but in the time it took for the paperwork to go through that would allow the blood draw to take place it showed below .08?

Either that or it was because the jurors were all from Grand Forks county? :D

Re: UND 2009-2010 Season Thread - The Lawnmower and Cookie tossing edition!

I wonder if the posters who opined on the appropriateness of a 1/2 season suspension of Frattin for what is now only an accusation of drunk driving will be back with further comments?

Re: UND 2009-2010 Season Thread - The Lawnmower and Cookie tossing edition!

All the UND haters will be out proclaiming that Ralph the Nazi gangster threatened the jury from his grave.

There are a lot of ways to beat a DUI/DWI if you aren't over .15. Most halfway competent lawyers are quite good at utilizing any or all of the loopholes.

So you insult the jurors and impugn their integrity? Is it not possible that Frattin's attorney did a good job of establishing reasonable doubt? He isn't the first person to beat a DUI charge. And there have been other UND hockey players in recent years convicted of DUI.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of people in Grand Forks County who don't follow or pay any attention to hockey.

Unfortunately Frattin had this guy.

Yeah but we don't count them in the county census......vagabonds.

Re: UND 2009-2010 Season Thread - The Lawnmower and Cookie tossing edition!

The Sioux had a rough go of it last weekend.
I bet they right the ship this upcoming weekend and come out with two dominant wins before their big series with SCSU the following weekend.

One would hope so, otherwise we are truly boned.

Sioux recruit Brendan O’Donnell with a couple of honors this month in the MJHL:

http://www.mjhlhockey.ca/news_item.aspx?news_id=1698

Considered one of the young guns in the MJHL, Winnipeg South Blues’ forward Brendan O’Donnell has been rewarded for his outstanding offensive efforts by being named January’s RBC Player of the Month.

And to cap an outstanding month of hockey for the Winnipeg product, O’Donnell was also named the MJHL’s Husky Energy Rookie of the Month. The 17-year-old centre put together an impressive 20 points (10-10) over an 11-game span last month.

O’Donnell also leads all rookie scorers in the MJHL with 25 goals and 50 points. This has been a season to remember for O’Donnell, who recently represented Team West at the prestigious Prospects Game, in addition to suiting up for Team West at the World Junior A Challenge.

Triple post. :)

UND has only had two previous winners of the award: Moorhead's Brian Lee and Bemidji's George Pelawa.

Here is your list of this year's finalists, half of which are Minnesota recruits:

Mark Alt, D, Cretin-Derham Hall, Minnesota recruit

Gothberg has a 15-6 mark on the year with a 1.82 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. Gothberg also has three shutouts.

Gothberg is expected to go play for the Fargo Force of the USHL next season. He'll come to UND when Brad Eidsness leaves.
