Are VV and Genoway going to be back soon? :(
Hopefully the team can get back on track with a strong UW team coming to REA next weekend.

This young team has had some tough losses early in the season, but they are still sitting better in the early going compared to the past few years.

I concur. I still would like to sweep UW, it's been awhile.

Sounds like the team really missed VV on the faceoffs last night. Rowney, the replacement for VV as center on the top line, went 1-12 on faceoffs. Ouch. To be fair to Carter, he hadn't played center all season until last night.

Kristo has really turned up his play recently. We heard a lot about his potential prior to his arrival at UND, and he is certainly starting to show it the last few weeks.

He is now leading the WCHA in points for freshmen (for all games):

Coming in to the season, he wasn't given a single vote for preseason ROTY:

Lee got most of the votes, but he has been outplayed by CC frosh goalie Joe Howe to this point.
Leddy got 2 votes, but with his injury has only played in 7 games and has 1 point. Aaron Dell has the same number of points as Leddy (in 5 less games played) as a goalie! ;)

If Kristo can keep playing well, he could definitely be a challenger for ROTY. He will miss a couple games for the WJC though...

Just for the record UND has a 9-1-1 record with a two goal lead. Actually if the refs had done their job correctly it would have been 10-0-1...

Anyone know who the other opponents would be for the Nye Classic? I would assume UAA & UAF would also be there...

Looks like UAA, UAF, UND, and Air Force will be the four teams in the Nye Classic.

Also from the Sioux blog on recruit Brendan O'Donnell:

UND recruit Brendan O'Donnell was named the player of the game at the Canadian Junior Hockey League Prospects Game.

Anchoring Team West (which features the top 20 draft-eligible players in the SIJHL, BCHL, AJHL, SJHL and MJHL), O'Donnell had four points (one goal, three assists) to lead his team to an 8-1 victory.

The recap on the MJHL site states: "O'Donnell, who has already committed to North Dakota Fighting Sioux, raised his stock considerably among the evaluators in attendance."

This team has the depth, physicality, and the abilty to grind and forecheck like the 97 team but right now they lack the ability to score like that team did. Hopefully that will change soon.

Ah, it wouldn't surprise me if we split with MSUM either.
They always seem to play us tough, and UND has had difficulty in sweeping opponents so far this year.
