UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

I like to use the stats of shot attempts for/against, shot % and save % to help predict game results. Data is showing a 2-2 game. Based upon UML's recent positive results and NU's recent negative results.... and the fact that it's an away game.... I am tilting the game in UML's favor. The D team needs to take care of business and we need a solid performance in net! Getting excited!

Did you factor in the larger ice surface variable?

Lowell has scored 9 goals in 2 games on the 200 X 90 sheet, the extra 2 1/2 feet along the sides opens up a lot more real estate

If you enjoy really bad music videos, and laughing at the Boston College hockey team, then NESN found the video for you:

It's impossible to describe how bad this is.

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

WOW!!! Lowell went from 17 to 13 to 12 to 14 in PWR tonight!

THere have been some yrs we were so good I couldn't believe we would lose even when we were losing. This is not one of them. I am surprised we win every time. Things aren't really smooth. Makes for a bit of excitement every weekend

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Tyler Wall played the game of his life last night. There was a sequence in the 2nd period where I'm not really sure how Northeastern did not score. They had about three to four point-blank chances and he saved them all.

Great TEAM win last night.

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Since the Denver loss, Lowell has given up 1, 0, 1, 5, 0, 1, 4, 1 goals in their last 8 games. They won the game where they gave up 5, and tied the one giving up 4. Shows generally how amazing the defense and goalkeeping has been in this 7-0-1 stretch, and the offense has stepped up when needed.

They have done a great job with keeping opponents hemmed below the dots in the attacking zone and creating chances from there. I am over the moon with how well our freshman have stepped up on the blue line and how the upperclassmen have shepard them along. Sawchuk had some hiccups against Northeastern with 2 pentatlies in a row, interference call was a little weak, but all is well that ends well. Blackmun and McDonald are going to mold into a great first D pairing.

I love this guy. He looks so eager! Always looks like he has a sense of urgency.

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Next 3 weeks are Gut Check time for Lowell. 10 possible point they need to bank 6-7 pts to keep pace. 4 of these game carry huge weight with PWR rankings. Northeastern has a egg on the weekend and come friday might have an eye on the Beanpot on Monday.

2 years ago we rolled into Matthews the Friday before the Super Bowl won a 6-4 shootout and then the Patriots did their thing against Atlanta.

Let's hope for more of the same next weekend.

Well this prediction aged well

Well this predication aged well

Nice! Speaking of PWR, the best possible outcome tonight for Lowell is wins by both BU and BC. I think that would move them up to 12. Doesn't feel right rooting for those two does it? :D

I'm just going to choose the lesser of three evils and root for Northeastern

Tyler Wall is your Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

Ryan Lohin nominated as a semi-finalist for the Walter Brown Award

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Connor Wilson was on the Bruins game last night to tease the NESN matchup on Friday against BC

Sounded just like a Norm Bazin post-game press conference lol, his coaching talent knows no bounds...

Obviously there is a loooonnng way to go but it sure is nice to be back in the bracketology conversation!

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

This might be one of the bigger regular season home weekends in a long time for Lowell. It also has a potential of being a great recruiting weekend (if there are any official visits going on).

Let's bring it the next couple of days (fans and players).

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Dreaming big: With a sweep of BC and UMass this weekend and a BU win tonight in Amherst, Lowell would be in 1st place with 7 games left, while also owning the tiebreakers against the 2nd and 3rd place teams.

No kidding.

I have no idea how this year ends up, but am I ever excited about the possibilities for the future. With some pretty good recruits coming in next year, there's some serious potential here.
