Went to vote and ....I honestly felt the 1-0 deficit for Lowell wasn't deserved at the end of 1, as I thought Lowell had the run of play in the first. A lucky bounce on a blocked pass attempt, and all of a sudden the puck was in the net.
A second goal hurt, but Lowell did what they did against Merrimack at home a few games ago. Just said "Nope, we're not losing this one," and just attacked UMass.
I honestly don't remember the last time I saw a Lowell team just dominate possession for a two minute or so stretch ... when Lowell took the 3-2 lead. UMass just couldn't clear the puck, and you could see the legs starting to go ... it was almost (heh) sad to watch. The Minutemen on the ice could just barely get off the ice while Lowell celebrated.
A good and important win prior to four straight non conference games coming up. This should also keep Lowell in the Top 10 hopefully.
I know it was snowing, but where were the students? Those that came were great. Wish there'd been more.
BTW, voting for the player of the game is open.
Nice to see that UMA doesn't trap for 60 minutes a game any more. Hell, that was the most wide open game I've seen with these two schools in 15 years. They are not a bad little team.
Seems to be working for me.Went to vote and ....

Lowell falls one spot from 8th to 9th in the USCHO poll.
Also, Vallorani is named HE Player of the Week.
Schaus now stands just two shy of collecting his 50th career assist…Paul Worthington’s (Langhorne, Pa.) momentum changing score on Saturday gave him 49 career points…In UML’s 2-1 loss on Friday night, Kory Falite (Buffalo, NY) scored his 49th career goal, the last River Hawk to tally 49 was fan-favorite Ben Walter…Falite is now tied with Dave Sullivan for 54th on the all-time UMass Lowell scoring list.
Saw this in Yesterday's Lowell Sun. It was at the end of a Chaz Scoggins article.
"Word is that UML sophomore defenseman Tim Carr, who has yet to play a minute for the River Hawks, will be transferring after this semester to a Division III school where he can play regularly. Carr is the son of the university's all-time leading scorer, Mike Carr."
Not surprising sadly. I wish him the best.Saw this in Yesterday's Lowell Sun. It was at the end of a Chaz Scoggins article.

The other key parts of the article in relation to the Hawks:
The River Hawks took a hit this past weekend when senior left wing Chris Auger suffered a knee injury against New Hampshire. Auger, who has come on strong this season and recently had a five-point game, will likely be sidelined until mid-January.
But senior defenseman Barry Goers, who has been out for a month with a knee injury, should be ready to return to the lineup against Princeton this weekend.
