Always crazy how many losses UMD racks up in the season despite being one of the best teams in the NCAA. It’s like Sandy treats the regular season like exhibition games only to practice fundamentals for the playoffs.

What a great weekend, it was fun to see it. Saturday was the best I've seen them play all year. I hoped they would go 2-2 against UND and DU and they went 3-1. They have basically assured a safe NCAA spot and have me feeling better about the rest of the year. Now let's hope they sweep UNO and play well on the road the last two weekends of Feb.


Let's hope they have figured it.

Now that we’re safely in the tournament and have a legitimate shot at a 3-peat, if the team were to accomplish that feat I would think it’s safe to call the Friday game against UND as the turning point of the season. We know UMD has only lost like twice in 40 games after scoring first, but coming back from a 2 goal defecit to a top ranked North Dakota and pounding out a win adds something else to the team’s confidence

Nice split at WMU. They had a bad 3rd period on Friday and rebounded with a great defensive effort. Exactly what UMD needed this weekend. Still fell to 5th in the PairWise which complicates seeding but it's about a month until selection Sunday. Plenty will change.

Agreed. Need to take care of business next weekend. Losses will certainly hurt in the Pairwise. Also want to build off Saturday’s win and get some momentum before finishing against an improved St Cloud team.

Saturday’s win really impressed me. To win a low-scoring defensive game against a high-scoring team like Western Michigan is really impressive. WMU had been scoring a lot and UMD shut them down.

Hopefully we see a sweep this weekend at CC. I'm a little concerned about the loss of Jackson Cates. He doesn't have his brother's scoring ability but he's a productive Center for us that does a lot of the little things well. I remember earlier in the season when we had some injuries it really set us back. Those were defensive injuries albeit but hopefully the rest of the team steps up. Home stretch here, get out of these weekends without any further injuries and prepare for the stretch run.

Hats off to those CC fans... I was impressed with their enthusiasm while down 2-0 (cuz I wouldn’t be).. then the game got ugly but fans stayed engaged and to the bitter end. Reminded me of the old days at the DECC just hoping for a close game.
I’d like to see playing time— seemed to me we were playing our 3rd and 4th lines quite a lot.
They need Gwoz. But in Havilands defense—I think he might have sat Wilkie a few shifts after his chippy play (which did draw a penalty and resulting PP goal). But 2/3 of the games I’ve been to at CC were total blowouts

Great weekend by UMD...Saturday they were playing so well. First regular season sweep of SCSU in Amsoil Arena. They are peaking at the right time with playoffs starting.

Hosting Miami next weekend which should be a UMD sweep.

But playing in empty arenas, my money is on Mankato breaking the curse in a big way. UMD and UND don’t play well in empty arenas

I am disappointed that the frozen four has been cancelled. I think it would have been the most competitive field in years. Would have been cool to see Duluth going for their third strait in person. Best of luck to Duluth!

UMD has done well in neutral sites, I can't think of empty arenas where they haven't done well.
