So, reading through this thread, I feel like some of you are a little mistaken about the officiating.
You did not earn all those power plays. Only some of them.
Obviously it did not matter in the end as the difference was the SHGs, but when St. Cloud fans are scratching their heads and wondering why a penalty was called on UMD, you KNOW something's messed up.

Your right about the refs, I am a Huskies fan and being at the game, I kept asking my friend why was there a penalty? Most of the calls seemed weak.

It was so weird! There were blatant penalties that went uncalled, too! On both sides!
And the 5 minute majors... Is "grasping the facemask" a major? Were they too gutless to call fighting (which it wasn't, no punches thrown)? They let them go WAY too long.

It sure was different, never seen a game get like that. Also I am sick and tired of these make up calls, they get old.
There was no punches thrown, it just hugging and they did grab the face mask but I didn't think it should of been 5 minutes. I notice the ref immediately made the sign to the other ref that they both get 5 minutes.
My question is why didn't the refs step in? There were two refs just watching them two in the corner.

Like the start of every season, the refs are calling things close, and calling things that were just mythical. The calls will slacken as season progresses.

The refs will only step in when they know the situation is safe. Until that point, they should keep out and the players dig their own graves.

It wasn't really even that out of control, DEFINITELY not worth a 5. I've seen worse called for 2 minutes. And, seeing as it was not that out of control, they should have stepped in and just stopped it. The refs were certainly inserting themselves into every other aspect of the game. Why not insert yourselves between two players who felt like having a snuggle?
You seemed very convinced that tUMD was getting exactly what they deserved.
