UMass is NewMass

Would have loved to see North Dakota vs UMass because they both have that up tempo game but it was not meant to be. Congrats to the Minutemen!
 
I can’t believe what I just witnessed. All of the years in the wilderness. I am on Cloud 9 and nobody is going to bring me down. To everybody from the old 2000’s USCHO crew across the country I love you all!

Not really. He might be the best but he and Murray had same number of wins this year. The split duties went against him. Unless they both should have been nominated but I haven't dug deep into that. And I am guessing Lindberg doesn't care right now. Just be happy Trivigno somehow won the Walter Brown award.
 
No question the best team in the tournament, they played a terrific game, Carvel is a terrific coach and is the midst of building a super program. Look out everyone in HE. Congrats to everyone around the program, it is great for college hockey in NE. Can't wait until next season.
 
Congrats to the Minutemen for winning their first national championship! After being the doormats in Hockey East for so many years this win is really special for their team and their fans. The success began with the hiring of Greg Carvel. Just amazing what he has accomplished in a very short time!
 
Congratulations to UMass! A few notables...

UMass is the 5th Hockey East team to win the national championship, tying it with the ECAC as the only conferences with five different champions.

Massachusetts now has four teams that have won titles, moving into sole possession of second place behind Michigan (five).

UMass joins Maine as the only eastern public school to win a championship.

So yes, a tip of this Husky's helmet to the new National Champions. But a question for the UMass faithful: Is all of the recent success, culminating with the natty, enough to displace bouncyball as first among equals in Amherst? Or even move the needle?
 
Nice try. Not gonna get in a fight with the UMass fans whose primary rooting interest is the basketball team today :):):)

Hopefully basketball finds their Carvel soon. I’m sure the Hockey National Championship banner would enjoy company at the other end the arena.

I tried every way I could think of to get a smiley face at the end of that first paragraph. Was unsuccessful. Oh well!

To be fair to UMass fans, basketball is also king at a lot of big hockey schools, even when the basketball team is having down periods.
 
Don’t worry! The final four banner is still hanging on the opposite end of the Mullins Center from the hockey banners. It isn’t going anywhere!
