UMaine: No Cure for the Summertime Blues but to BEAR the Months 'till October!

Re: UMaine: No Cure for the Summertime Blues but to BEAR the Months 'till October!

Correct. UAA is coming to Orono for a pair this season, not next.
Well with 4 games still in play, imo I would rather see Colgate and Ohio State then Canisius and Penn State on the schedule.

If I had to bet, I'd say Colgate and Canisius (or another AHA team). I'm afraid it will be an AHA team and Vermont though.

If they have to play Vermont and UMass 4 games again this year...why don't they split them that on Friday's of each series they count as Hockey East games and the Saturday games count as Non-Conference games...I know that should of been the thought last year and would interfere with next season schedule.

We get to mount the cats an extra two times AGAIN THIS YEAR? THIS THE GREEN VARIETY OR THE WILD VARIETY?

Red said via a question on Twitter that the Portland game was the 13th. What's your source for this breakdown?

Western Michigan would be a good possible fit to come to Maine...then return and play them next Year or the Year after.

Re: UMaine: No Cure for the Summertime Blues but to BEAR the Months 'till October!

Ugh. No more OOC games against Vermont or AHA teams please.
I think that Vermont might feel the same about playing Maine also...sadly it looks like a AHA Team will be on the Schedule...another season or two and the Schedule should look a lot stronger.

The problem is Vermont has five openings and Maine four. There are not a lot of options left. The choice is a return series between Maine and Vermont, extra games against the AHA, exhibition games against Canadian teams or not playing at all.

I hear you on Vermont...but it won't hurt to bring in Western Michigan this year and return there next season or the season after that, form a agreement between UM & WM for a 2 year series and bridge the Scheduling gap some...and if not Western Michigan, reach out to Ohio State.

I think the most likely scenario at this point is scheduling an AHA team the weekend after Thanksgiving and Vermont in January. Attendance will already be poor since students are on break and January opponents do not draw well, even high-profile ones.

It also doesn't make a lot of sense to get into a home-and-home agreement with a team like Penn State this season because there is an opportunity in 2015-16 to play 18 or 19 home games again because of the exemption for playing the Icebreaker. Bring in Denver and/or a B1G next year and schedule the return trip for 2016-17. There is also (hopefully) a home-and-home with Duluth but that most likely wouldn't be able to start until 16-17 because of their prior commitments.
