Not so much inside info as deductive reasoning. It makes sense that there was no announcement last week since the school wanted the spotlight squarely on the women's basketball team. I also know there is a deadline coming up for the school to make an announcement - if they're going to. I for one would be very disappointed if we found out second or third hand instead of from UMaine. So I would expect some word from the school this week.

I loathe statements like this. Yeah, if a few more bounces went against Maine it could have been a bottom four team. Maine was the same number of points away from fourth place Boston University as ninth place Vermont.

I'll listen to most arguments, but if you roll out this chestnut - either for or against - I'm not going to listen because you clearly don't understand hockey. It's a game of inches. 50-50 pucks and "lucky" bounces are a huge part of our sport, often with a greater impact on an individual game than the difference in talent.

Especially when there is so much parody in college hockey

But maybe Maine could use a guy who knows his way around a bratwurst, instead? He sure could recruit, most years.
