Re: UMaine Hockey 2014-15: The Road from Alfond to Boston

Look, this team clearly doesn't have the talent to compete against anyone of caliber. They didn't quit tonight, Romeo was solid. Bigger, faster , stronger won. Period, the end. I'm sick of Red sucks blah blah blah. He has nothing to work with. You can be the greatest coach on earth but if you have an inferior team you aint gonna win. Esp in Hockey east

So what you are saying is, he has less talent to work with then last year? Negatory. Red himself has said, blame me. I will.

Re: UMaine Hockey 2014-15: The Road from Alfond to Boston

Schurhammer ties things up but ref waves it off.... under review....

no idea why it would be waved off...

should be 1-1... looked clear to me...

goal stands

1-1 8 minutes in...

I was always under the impression that the green light couldn't go if time ran out.

Re: UMaine Hockey 2014-15: The Road from Alfond to Boston

Brian Flynn scored a goal to tie the game tonight against Montreal and had the only goal in the shootout to give Buffalo a win tonight.

The green light is for stoppages in play. That is supposed to come on automatically when time expires and the goal light (the siren up high) isn't supposed to be able to come on if the green light is already on. That said, the light operator might have jumped the gun because that puck was tipped (may have hit the post) and then went in. He may have turned the light on early.

That was ugly. Major on Lacroix, penalty on Rutt with 5:31 left, squandered chances (I still don't know how Brown missed), coasting on D, passes that were 2 feet off target or to a Vermont stick...Just a lousy game.

This team cant be as bad as Red makes them appear to be. I believe if he ever figures out the line combinations, they can be a more successful team. After all, that's his job.

Re: UMaine Hockey 2014-15: The Road from Alfond to Boston

They either don't care or simply don't have the horses. The PP is as bad as Paul Pooleys dump and watch. I watched VT players lift sticks, I'm thinking why can;'t Maine do that. I watch VT forecheck, gee why can't Maine do that. I watched VT players roof a puck, gee why can't we do that. Its one or the other, the players aren't good enough or they just don't care.

Well....Denver is 9-3. Just saying

Re: UMaine Hockey 2014-15: The Road from Alfond to Boston

This Maine team is so easy to defend. They are doing the same thing over and over. Bringing the puck up along the boards into the offensive zone and then having the puck taken away from them time after time. The defense sees it coming and they execute it almost every time. Sometimes they will pass but it will usually be deflected. No puck control with their stick and they don't use their body to protect the puck. Unlike Vermont. This team plays hard (Maine). In my opinion Gendron is trying to equate grit and passion to winning. He is confused. It's about talent combined with grit and passion = winning. Especially when playing very good teams. By the way, Romeo was very good in net tonight.

Thank god that Maine has great goaltending......imagine what it would be without Morris and Romeo in net?

Re: UMaine Hockey 2014-15: The Road from Alfond to Boston

Funny how the key to a turnaround seems to be recruiting........but no one is really talking about that. Most fans don't even know who we have commitments from.......yet they ARE the future.

Guite has been doing a great job recruiting, but there's no special provision in the pairwise for that.

Romeo has gotten better and better and tonight was very strong. I don't see it in Morris he looks like a sieve.

Thank god that Romeo is a top end goaltender then.......at least we've narrowed down the problem(s). Goaltending is NOT an issue with this team. Phew!
