Yes. This is very true.

I realize the bruins game is on at 3 pm. But in case anyone is interested in following Canadian junior a Championship, the Prince George(BCHL) is free today at hockeytv.com. Maine recruit Ben Poisson is on that team. Also, a fellow Maine recruit Adrien Bisson is also playing for a championship in that series for the Ottawa jr senators.

Maine recruit Nolan Renwick was drafted in the first round of the phaseII USHL draft by Omaha. This means it is very like Renwick plays USHL for the next couple seasons.

Matt Osadick was drafted by Youngstown in the 8th. Tristan Poissant was drafted by Fargo in the 10th.

This article mentions Maine recruit Guillame Richard could be a first round pick in the QMJHL draft next month. If true, imagine he doesn’t end up making it to Maine.

Osadick had a good year in the Manitoba Junior league. He went deep in the playoffs to OT in game 7 of the finals. As an 8th round pick it will depend on how much ice time Fargo gives him. Better to be a first liner with PP and PK time in Manitoba than a bottom 6 guy in Fargo?

Maybe it depends on the year and the particular player. But in general, the USHL is much better competition. Much closer to NCAA level of play. I think Osadick was a very late cut, cut part way into the season, by Cedar Rapids. Hopefully this time he makes a USHL team because his game seems fast, physical, with scoring touch. Like to see him play in USHL.

Also, he was drafted by Youngstown. But I think it doesn’t change your question much.

He was right there with Tripp in points per game despite being a couple birth years behind. So in his particular case I think he needs a better league to continue his development. Let’s hope he gets that in Youngstown.

Re: UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

Maine got a couple of commits today from Remy Parker and Perry Winfree. Remy is coming this fall and I think he’ll be a good one.
