UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

Re: UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

So, does anyone have any idea whats going on with JSS? Seems like he dropped off the face of the earth. Hope he still plans on coming to Maine next year...

Looks like hand injury. Not any insider info from me. But from me, I have had injury before and take 8 weeks. Assuming it is broken bone. If ligament damage, we don't know. But broken bones 8 weeks I think.

Actually he came back in less than seven weeks. He has one goal so far tonight. He will be on the power play to start the third period. He looks great.

Also, I should mention Butala is back playing also.

Great Dane ended up with two goals. First one was a setup door step. Second one was a tough adjustment half slapper one timer from high slot that was a laser. That shows anyone he has nhl type skills. He was faster than I expected. He has several other great shots on net, likes to go to the net front, and played physical delivering a couple hits. Looks like a day one step in top contributor.

Butala played a solid game. He's more of an at home type. Good penalty killer. Got called on standing up the team USA top player Carrying into the zone. Open iced him. I don't know if that is called in college hockey. To me it was a case of trying to do to much carrying across the line looking for pass and got open iced. He does well clearing and boxing out forwards in front of his own goalie. And he did well defending on a 3 on 1. I am surprised he wasnt given more ice time. In the first he didnt get many shifts and that was when team USA did a lot of damage. The one goal they gave up on his shift wasn't his fault in my opinion.

Kleibor is very nifty and can make great decisions breaking the puck out under pressure. Looks like not a lot of sand in his pants. Probably needs heavy leg work lifting. He got registered an assist, but I don't think it was an assist. Smallish mobile defensemen it seems.

Re: UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

JSS had two goals and an assist over the two games this weekend. Teammate Ben Meyers had a goal and an assist(giving him 11 points over last 8 games). Drobot didn't play.

Renwick and Morrissey each has two goals and two assists on the weekend to put the Hounds AAA team up 2-0 in their playoff series.

Dawe registered a goal yesterday and might have had more but the goalie robbed him a couple times. Interestingly enough Dawe answered questions about his speed at ten minute mark when he took a puck end to end gaining zone possession on power play... looked plenty fast.

Any of you guys have a reliable free link for New England Prep stats. I have been trying to follow Capone's progress, the only source I have been able to find are the game recaps on the Salisbury web site. He had a hat trick in the last game and his team is in first place in the league.

Salisbury will be the #1 seed in the upcoming Elite 8 NEPSAC tournament.

Good link, thank you.

Also, BHall44 keeps a great up to date summary of Maine's recruits here...

BHall44 does a great job. I would ask him to do a similar spreadsheet for girls hockey too, but that would be asking too much. :) So I don't knowing it isn't a paid position and he does a great job with his men's spreadsheet. :) Much appreciated BHall!
