Still not panicking. 3-5-2 isn't bad when you consider this time last year the team was 0-7-3. 0-9-3 before the first win of the season.

I'd like to see 5 wins before December, 2-3-0 is not out of the realm of possibility. Maybe steal one from Lowell at the Alfond, or get one or two in Vermont, or beat Brown in Portland. If Maine is 5-8-2 and facing only December against UNH (3) and AIC (2), being .500 at the New Year is in reach.

AMC, with all due respect, you are saying that dog poop smells better than chicken poop... It actually does, but both stink plenty bad in their own right. Last year's team was one of Maine's worst teams ever, and improving over that mess is a very short hurdle to leap.

Red has had enough time to show signs of improvement, and he hasn't delivered at all. At the very least, he should have sold his soul to get a goalie on Day One, yet here we are with what we have well into his regime, never mind the utter dearth of snipers on board now. I just don't see any evidence at all to expect that he'll right the ship that he's helped run aground.

I wanted Corkum to succeed Tim. Or, maybe Monty. I was taken aback when Maine hired Red, but figured "Why not give the guy a chance?" after the dust had settled. Time has proven that he isn't the man for the job. That fact is inescapable. That any of us old-timers consider the remote possibility of Maine going .500 to be encouraging simply underscores how far the program has fallen. It's just no fun to be a Maine fan anymore, and I hate that.

Well put, especially your last sentence....we all hate what has happen to the Program and Team. Some will say it's negative but really it's people like yourself and others that have the passion for the team and game and have seen it shine only to see now that there's really no light at the end of the tunnel...sadly.

Gendron does not connect with the players....plain and simple. I find it very telling that they played very well during their first 2 weekends and then the bottom fell out. He is now putting his stamp on the freshmen......and look what has happened. Kudos to Guite for bringing in some nice players this season. Saw him with another recruit last weekend. Would not be surprised to see him save himself and move on after this season if things keep trending down.

Just an FYI, but the first two weekends were at home and other teams had no or limited tape on the freshmen. If you look at the stats, it's Brown and Vesey who aren't carrying their weight. If they were scoring at the pace you would expect Maine would likely have an extra win or two.

At least on Saturday night Brown was one of the few players that had a little extra jump in his step every time he touched the puck (and got the primary assist on Smith's goal).

Vesey on the other hand... can't remember the last time I watched him make a play.

I thought Gibson was the best Maine forward on the ice Saturday night. He forechecked like a mad man

Come on...the game is played on the ice...you can tape this and tape that...it's on the ice is where it counts and who is teaching it to the players...period.

Is he the only one?

Guite is on fire. The last three forwards that have committed all look really good.

Their recruiting work is going well. Now the challenge is in coaching and developing a competitive team. Jury is still out on that aspect.

Re: UMaine Black Bears, 2016 2017 season thread

"Notre Dame has announced the addition of veteran coach John Micheletto as a special assistant to the coaching staff."

"Micheletto’s addition combined with Jackson, associate head coach Paul Pooley and associate coach Andy Slaggert give the Irish staff over 100 years of coaching experience."

Speaking of coaching, if I recall there can only be three paid coaches, evidently ND has four, surely he's not a volunteer. To do this teams must pay the extra coaches somehow as being in an athletic department position? Depending upon how this season goes, Maine could very well be in a position where they should look themselves in the mirror for an honest assessment, and start thinking in different ways about the coach staff and the way they coach.

Lowell tonight, hopefully I get there to see them live and in person. Excited to see them play for the first time this year. Hopefully they don't let me down :) Lowell will be tough

Now that we are close to 1/3rd of the season in, has anyone heard what the Eligibility Status of Tim Doherty and Oliver Herner? Odd that no information about either has been mentioned.

A very bizarre situation. The Colgate announcer mentioned they had a player in same boat as Herner a few years ago and that Herner should have been eligible last Saturday night. Obviously he didn't play so who knows what is going on. Doherty is even more baffling where he committed so long ago and has never played overseas.

Can someone ask the Maine PA announcer to calm down a little bit.
